How many RSVPs did you have to call about? (mini-vent, sorry)

OK, this is just a mini vent, because I'm having a rough day. Sorry guys. So today I woke up late because our power went out and the alarm never went off, discovered my car battery was dead this morning after FI had already left for work, our puppy had an accident in the living room and our water heater died. Off to a good start for the week.

Anyway,  I'm just wondering how many people you had to call and track down about RSVPs. Our deadline was about a week ago, but I put off calling people just in case they didn't mail it back until the last minute--we've only gotten one since then. I knew I was going to probably have to call a few people but I didn't anticipate having to track down 62 people! Yikes...at least it's mostly couples so it's only like 30 phone calls. lol. I guess I should get started. Grrr...How many people did you have to call?

Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better now! :)

  • We called about 3 families. Then again, we only invited 98 people.

That's not bad at all. That's sort of the number I was expecting/hoping for. Our total guest list comes in at 142 people and I guess I just didn't think that half of our guests wouldn't respond.

  • I think H and I only had to call about 3 people.  Sorry that you have to tract down so many...that stinks.

As for your first paragraph...I would have said, the hell with it and called out sick...that is just too much crap to happen in one day, especially on a Monday morning.

Hope your week gets a bit better!

  • We had about 30 calls to make. I started literally the day after the deadline. We did get a few cards that following day.

What I did was divide up the list. So FI tracked down his family, my mom tracked down hers, FMIL tracked down hers, and I tracked down our friends. It worked well and most of it was done via e-mail and over within a couple days.

    Good luck!

  • As for the start of your week, I guess the week can only go up from here?

Good luck tracking the people down.  I haven't sent invites yet, but it makes me nervous hearing 62 people to track down!  Yikes!

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.
  • I had to call about 25 percent of the guest list. Grrrr....

  • We had a list of about 10 families - mostly DH's guests.  DH took care of his friends and his dad and mom dealt with the family members.  It took about three or four days to get ahold of everyone.  Had we had more people from both sides we would have divided people up by how they were associated with us, as PPs have suggested.

We had to call about six groups, so about twelve people.

One girl here had to track down 96 folks, plus her reception venue was about to be flooded and the backup location had camo curtains. I cannot imagine the stress.

Holy Cow, that is crazy! Talk about putting things into perspective...I feel for her. That is just insane. Thanks for all the support ladies--you're right. This week can only go up from here!

<div>Me too.  Well, H or MIL or my mother did.  I only had two friends not RSVP.</div>
  • I am actually doing this today.  I have 15 calls to make.  But that's why I decided to give some wiggle room between the rsvp date and the date I have to have final numbers in to the caterer.  Good luck with yours!  I hope your day gets better!  Do you have some Easter chocolate leftover?  Chocolate always helps me on bad days.  :)

  • I had to call 62 out of my 120.

Luckily some of them were families and whatnot.

  • We invited about 150 people, and we had to call 7 couples/guests total.  Five were my mom's side of the family (which she was RIPPED about), one was my parents' next door neighbors, and one was a friend of mine who had RSVP'd for himself, but didn't clarify whether he was bringing a plus one.  We took care of everything in two days, and got the rest of the RSVPs back that we needed to for the meal count.

Good luck, and I hope your week gets better!
  • My cousin only had to call a few people - I think all in all she had to make about 6 phone calls? Not 100% sure. This makes me hopeful that the famly will respond the same way for me. I mean, the envelope is pre-stamped and bright blue so it won't easily get lost among paperwork and envelopes. They'd better send them back!!! lol

As for your week I'm sending good vibes. Reading about your crappy morning makes me feel better about spilling blackberry preserves all over my favorite pair of jeans while making breakfast - so thanks for that ; p
  • I sent out 143 invitations, and have recieved 27 responses back. They have until Thursday, and I won't start calls untill Monday, but it looks like I'll have tons to call.

Oh wow, thanks everyone. I am starting to calm down after the craziness and feel better (yes, the chocolate idea also was very helpful! Smile). I was able to knock down a few this morning with phone calls. I called one of my cousin who is out of state and she said that they had all been chatting over lunch yesterday that everyone was coming, so I can mark 12 people off for sure. Thank goodness, she saved me a few phone calls! :)

Bunni, I have hope for you. I'm mentally wishing that everyone gets those sent back and you won't have to do much. I have another week to get back to our caterer and alcohol vendor.

pokepoke, glad I could make your day. I am insanely clumsy and accident/spill prone (one of the reasons I own only 1 white shirt), so I have about half a closet worth of clothes in my car just in case I spill something on my way to work or a meeting. I think I'd be upset about spilling the preserves too, but mostly because blackberry is my absolute favorite! Smile

Thanks again everyone. Wishing you all a wonderful day!

  • We invited 188 and had to contact almost 70 people (mainly FI family).

  • What is wrong with people? Reading all this worries me, I sent out 88 invitations almost 2 weeks ago and have only gotten 13 back. I know its only been 2 weeks, but I just assumed we would get the bulk of them back within the first week and then the rest would trickle in here and there. My fear is at this point, the rsvps are getting lost in stacks of mail and junk in our guests' houses  :/
