How's everyone doing? Anything exciting going on this week? I'm just waiting to hear the news that we're expecting more babies on this board!!
I'm doing alright...freaking out because I have to get tons of blood work done throughout my next cycle, and I'm terrified of blood work. I'm trying not to think about it, but it's hard!!! Oh, and H got a job!! It's not a wonderful job with wonderful pay, but it's a decent job with decent pay. They're willing to be flexible with him once he's in law school (hopefully next fall), so that's really important. Oh, and his office is across the street from me!! We're literally on the same street, how cool is that?
Re: Chit chat here
I, too, am wating to hear any baby news. I've actually pondered starting a nosey thread for the married ladies about who is TTC right now, but didn't know how wel that would be received
My FI emailed me today and said they finally were told that their office is going back to full-time hours! However, it might not be permanent, but just for a little while until they get caught up on projects, so we're trying not to get too over-excited in case it's only temporary. But still, it's better than nothing!
It's our birthday present, since his was Monday and mine is Saturday! Should be a lot of fun. I'm wearing a new dress, which always makes me feel good.
I'm getting super excited about my our wedding. Invitations went out this week, and my dress should arrive soon!
Professor, I'm sorry about your difficulty TTC so far. Hopefully it's just a matter of timing. I can't wait to find out you're expecting a Baby Professor (partially because it makes me imagine a baby in a professor-esque ensemble, and that's just an adorable mental image).
Yay for all the upcoming weddings!!!! Erin and Christina, you're both getting so close! I remember back when your weddings seemed pretty far off....you must be getting so stoked!! Are you going on honeymoons?
Prof - that is frustrating - both the no-husband-at-home deal (boy howdy) and the TTC frustrations. I will spout this may-or-may-not-be-true statistic that I hear on The Bump all the time. Even with perfect timing, you only have a 20% chance of getting pregnant each cycle. Again, not entirely sure how true it is, but maybe? Also, as a teacher, it did kind of stink to miss the first 2 months of school (little guy was born on Sept. 4th and school started on the 6th). But I totally didn't care. AND it was great that summer break coincided with my 3rd trimester of pregnancy
[QUOTE]I don't think I realized Hugh Laurie sings. And yay for Barry Manilow! Professor, I'm sorry about your difficulty TTC so far. Hopefully it's just a matter of timing. <div>I completely agree with this. We don't have another wedding for a couple of weeks (Ciardasully - yay!) and then it's like weddingweddingweddingwedding! I can't believe we're almost done with 2012!</div><div>
</div><div>And don't worry, we've already started pointing out adorably nerdy baby things on the Internet and vowing to buy them once we're pregnant. :p</div>
We're going on a honeymoon, but not right away. We'll be going to a resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (Riviera Maya area) for a week, about six weeks after the wedding. I'm glad we're waiting a bit, it gives us another thing to look forward to. Also, we'll be going in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so it'll be nice having some time together just the two of us in between the craziness of family holidays
he gives a great show.
We're not TTC
[QUOTE]I am soooooo keeping my fingers crossed that FI's switch back to full-time is permanent - that means we can move up our plans to sell the condo and buy a house, which means we can think about TTC sooner. I got to hang out with my (to-be) nieces and nephew over the past weekend, which definitely re-ignited my baby fever! <strong>We've talked about wanting to have at least one year of being married before starting a family</strong>, but as long as we were OK financially, I would be fine if we started a little sooner.

<div>We were exactly the same way! I think the longer we stayed apart the more we wanted kids. TBH, I think H would have been fine if we'd gotten pregnant on our honeymoon.</div>

There have been more than a few occassions where I told our little guy he is going to be an only child. :) But those tend to be in the middle of the night in a sleepy stupor.
Also, if we end up with any girls I don't know what I would do with myself. My husband's family apparently cannot produce a single female in their line (okay, exaggeration, but still) so I've pretty much settled on all boys. A girl would throw off my groove :)

<div>I agree!</div><div>
</div><div>Sarahdactyl, that is a lot of excitement going on! Congrats on the dress!</div>
This week we've been doing an activity called Challenge Day with our freshmen. It's a chance for the kids to share sort of their deepest darkest secrets and to create a community of love and support in the class. It was amazing. I mean, it broke my heart to see the pain my kids have gone through (and I mean some serious stuff), but to see them lift each other up and just love each other was amazing.
Yesterday I stayed home sick, but I've been told it was a giant lovefest at school. I'm so happy to see some positive change in the students. Literally the DAY BEFORE our Challenge Day, I had to turn in a kiddo who was threatening to beat up another student, and now their all BFFs.
Sarah, I love how excited you are for your dress! Do you have a pic?

<div>I second this! I love seeing dress photos :)</div>
@ professor--I would love to know more about this Challenge day activity. Is this like an outside program you guys heard about, or did your school come up with it? If you have a link or resource about it--pass it on!
@Sarah--about your dress, pics or it didn't happen! I love dress pics!

It's a national thing. Our two facilitators were from CA and FL, so they bring in people from all over the country.

<div>My husband's family suffers (and now mine...) from the boy baby curse! I have no nieces and my husband's cousins don't have any girls, either. My husband threatens that we're going to have all boys... and likes to remind me of that anytime we see a family with a flock of male progeny. I will break the curse, darnit! As to OP... yup, working on that TTC thing and no luck yet for four months :(</div><div>
</div><div>In general, my husband is in his final(!!!!) semester of school to finish off his Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering degree... so I don't get as much cooking/chore help as normal while he drowns in homework, projects and lab reports. My sister is expecting a boy in December, so I'm working on a cross-stitch birth announcement thingy that is taking super-duper long (finished size 12"x12")... I think I bit off more than I can chew! </div>
