It depends on the type of tux you get. For our wedding I believe the groom and the groomsmen had a basic black tux by CK and it was about $75 plus tax from Men's Warehouse. They also all had their own shoes so they didn't have to rent those.
For my friend's wedding, her groom and groomsmen are having some designer high end tux, and I believe her rentals are about $185 plus tax from Men's Warehouse.

Just seems like a lot to rent something to wear for a day. H's was pretty basic but I think they did have rentals starting at $50 plus tax.
The one my friend is getting is similar to the one below, which I have seen a few times around these boards so it must be fairly popular. It seems like it would only really work on thin, tall guys - just because the way the jacket looks. My friend's wedding is going to be a lot more formal than mine, and I guess it does look more classy?

I definitley like the more classic look...
he reminds me of that weird "thin man" from the first charlies angels movie... I have not seen that movie in probably 8 years but thats the first thing I thought of!
I let FI pick the tux. I gave him an idea of what i was thinking, but in the end it was his decision. I figure if the man can't dress himself, he's not ready to get married! (Thankfully he has great taste!)

My FI and his groomsmen are renting their tuxes from Men's Warehouse. I went with them when they went for the fitting. FI chose the tux(he knows what he wants, since he's got his own custom suits) but he let me pick the vest colors. The total rental for their is $97, including the shoes as well. Here's a picture of what the tux will look like.
GMs will wear peridot vests(in picture), FI will be in silver vest. The brand is Joseph & Feiss(pic is CK) and vest is Geometrics(the pattern is very nice!) It it very possible to rent tuxes for under $100!
