Favors- Dumb Idea?

So, due to cost, I wasn't really planning on doing favors. But, our best man's mom does business marketing, and could get pens with our wedding colors, name, and wedding date on them for a really great price! I thought this would be cute, because you can always use a pen, right? What do you ladies think, hot or not?

What are you all doing for favors, if any?

Althought it might be nice, I would just skip it, you may end up with a zillion pens left over because people will leave them behind. plus of all the things you could save on for the wedding, this would be the way to go.

That being said we are doing favors, but edible ones so hopefully the guests will eat them while they are there and i don't end up with tons left behind. They are s'more marshmallow pops, since FI and I love them so much

We definitely aren't doing favors. Of the weddings I've been to, I either don't remember the favor, or actively thought it was a bad idea. The worst was a wedding where every guest received a tiny metal pail filled with jolly ranchers. I may still have the pail kicking around somewhere, but I'm pretty sure I tossed it. Really, why would you spend money to buy guests that? Edible favors aren't so bad, but if you aren't invested in it, why spend the money?

I think the pens are a good idea, I know I always need one!
We haven't decided on favors yet, we are doing a candy bar and I'd prefer not to do favors, but he seems to want to (we'll see once he sees the cost!)

Pens arn't a bad idea but like callme, you could end up with a zillion pens.

Fi and I actually talked about this last night, and we are going to chocolate kisses and i will come up with a cute little phrase like thanks for coming, have kiss from the bride and groom or something like that...

We aren't doing favors either, but I don't think a pen would be a bad idea. Like PP mentioned, some will probably be left behind. I would collect them all and use them, I always seem to be losing pens

We are doing 2 edible things for "favors". As part of our simple centerpieces we are filling little drawstring bags with candy (guests can take them with or eat them there). Also my aunt is making groomscake which we will wrap in wrapping paper and when we tie the ribbon there will be a note that says "sleep with this under your pillow and dream of your true love".

Also, not sure if this is considered a favor, but instead of rice or birdseed we are having people blow bubbles on us when we leave the church, and they can keep the bubbles afterwards

We are doing matches for our favors. A lot of people use matches for various reasons around the house, plus we found a website that does them for a good price. They will just have our names and our wedding date on them.

We are doing large match books for our favors. We did them for my sister's wedding last year and everyone loved them, so we are going to do them for my wedding too. Everyone can use matches for candles, smoking, etc.

I would stay away from the pens, but if that's something you would want to do then go for it- it's your wedding!!

We're doing jordan almonds and donating $$ to the MS Foundation. Depending on what you donate you can actually receive personalized favors from them about the donation.
