Zoetry vs. Maroma Beach? Anybody?

I've seen a few posts on here about zoetry resorts after "searching it" on the knot, but none that recent. We were all set to book Secrects Maroma and the price went up 2,000 in two days with the travel agent! Holy Moly! After searching the internet, I did find a similar package not through Apple at Secrets Maroma that is pretty close in price to our original quote for 7nights junior swimout (about 4300)

Particually, we are now looking at Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita in Riviera Maya by suggestion from our travel agent. From what I understand, this is known as the best of the Zoetry resorts.

I like their sip, savor and see package because you can go to different resorts owned by secrets and dreams and eat/drink and watch their entertainment so we could experience the Maroma restaurants if we wanted!

I've done my research on trip advisor and most people love it, but usually just couples. I haven't seen too much on honeymoons. One downfall would be that it isn't AO! It used to be a condo building so they have kept the ability to bring kids with as an option but they are to pay the full adult price so I've read that keeps most away. I love kids but just not on my honeymoon!

We'd get the Art of Love package complimentary which is pretty nice!

Just seeing if there is anybody that has been to both or that have any input? We were so excited to go to Maroma because of the wonderful reviews and it just seems like such the total package. The beach is unreal!

Just so torn! Any advice? TIA!

Re: Zoetry vs. Maroma Beach? Anybody?

  • I've been to both as well as other Secrets and Zoetry properties. It's true that the beach is amazing at Maroma! However, it is a lot more crowded than the beach at Zoetry. The beach at Zoetry is okay but it's no Maroma! I like the Zoetry properties better because they are smaller, more intimate, more boutique. Maroma has 300 rooms, Zoetry PdlB has just less than 100. I am probably heading back to Zoetry Casa del Mar this year and it only has 45 rooms! The food at Zoetry PdlB is great and the service is a little more personalized. Zoetry is definitely boutique in style and very unique. Secrets is more chic and modern. I don't think you can go wrong, so it really comes down to what you feel best fits your needs.

I'm so glad you responded! You are so educated on both! I really am leaning towards zoetry because the more intimate is definetely more our style. I read a few reviews on Maroma that it was hard to even get a pool chair at times because people reserve them early and then don't get to them until after breakfast. I am not a huge fan of being on top of people on vacation, esp our honeymoon.

The only two things that were turning me off to zoetry were the reports of hard beds (I have a pillowtop about THIS thick and huge fluffy pillows so I worry about that a little and then the fact that it is not AO...although that doesn't seem like a problem seeing that they have to pay full price. Did you have issues with either of those? Did you visit any of the other resorts that are included? Maybe I'll hop to Maroma and eat their food, too! lol. Thanks again!

  • I only did the dine-around program in Cabo. I did not do it in the RM. However, the restaurants are mostly the same. We really enjoyed the food at Zoetry. It was delicious! We did dine at Portofino in Cabo (Dreams) but, Maroma has a Portofino, too! I'm a pretty picky eater, but I also like Himitsu. One turn off for me at Secrets, though, is the lines to try and get into Himitsu or some of the other more popular restaurants. Also, just so you know, the closest Secrets to Zoetry PdlB is Silversands. Then, a little further down the road is Dreams Riviera Cancun. Maroma is a little bit of a drive from Zoetry (maybe 20-30 minutes.)

I did not notice anything with the beds, but I prefer something more firm, so I would have only noticed if it was too fluffy! LOL

Also, I didn't address the kids thing- I only saw one child at Zoetry PdlB and he was older (maybe around 10?). I saw two at Zoetry Casa Del Mar. They were siblings and they were older as well. All were very well behaved.
