Help!

So my budget is very small and I was thinking about preparing the reception dinner myself. I just cant seem to think of anything that is cheap but still sophisticated enough for my wedding reception, any ideas?

Re: Help!

  • What about moving the ceremony to 2 pm and then doing a mid afternoon reception? The you can either just serve cake or cake with some light snacks and save a ton. Or if your heart is set on an evening reception, you could move the ceremony to 8 and do desserts only. Or if your heart is set on an evening reception with a dinner, consider having BBQ or Italian restaurants cater it. I strongly discourage anyone without the proper training from trying to do DIY catering. Also, in case you were wondering, it's incredibly rude to ask your friends or relatives to help with the cooking

<div>Are you a caterer?  If you aren't in the industry, you'll have to shell out quite a bit for chafing dishes and the such to keep foods hot (or cold) and the pans and pots to cook that much food.  Even if you're cooking for 50 people, it's still going to take more than what even people who cook for a group quite a bit is going to have on hand in their kitchen.</div><div>
</div><div>How many people would you be preparing food for?</div>

  • As PP said I would have a mid-afternoon wedding so that you can do fancy snacks instead of dinner- think bruchetta, cheeses, fruits, veggies, etc. And of course your cake. :)
