Plant City Area/Brandon/Lakeland

Hi ladies,

This is my first post in this board and I figured that you all would probably be the most helpful for a few questions I have.

I am having a more modern-vintage wedding and am looking for reception sites. We will be having a nice sized wedding consisting of approx. 150+/- guests. I don't need anything too huge but want room for a dance floor plus seating for the guests. Any suggestions?

Also, any recommendations of photographers/videographers in this area and websites I can check out?

Thank you!

Hollis Gardens in Lakeland is beautiful, we we're planning on doing our wedding their, but they were booked for December 2010. I stated planning Dec 2009. There are several banquet halls located around the park that are also owned by the city. I remember the fees to rent out the gardens and the hall being extremely affordable. Here is a link for the gardens  http://www.lakelandgov.net/parkrec/parks/HollisGarden.html

I live in Lakeland and besides Hollis Gardens there really isn't anything much out there besides Eaglebrook. (I looked and we have about the same guest count.. mine is 175)
But I am going for that modern/Miami feel.. so maybe I just overlooked possible venues. We are getting married in Orlando but as far as photographers, my FI and I signed with Elegant Imagery. She (Victoria) has done weddings in Lakeland before (in Hollis Gardens) so she knows the area. Check her out. I don't know what your budget is but its worth a shot. (My budget was less but when I saw all she offers it was definately worth the 'extra' $1,300... $500 of those extra $1300 was my FI falling in love with the photo booth..so it would have been only $800 over).

Would you consider getting married else where? Have you checked places in Ybor? I know they have that vintage feel.

Thanks ladies, I will def. check out the sites.

Actually, we don't really care where we have the wedding. I LOVED a cathedral in Jax. that had a very vintage feel due to the gothic architecture, but also have to keep in mind that the majority of our families live from Ft. Myers to Ocala... I grew up in PC and that is kind of a "meet in the middle" place. Again, I really don't care where we have the wedding as long as it is in the central Florida area.

I love the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor.... I'll have to take a trip over there.

Mizzi - Do you have a link to Elegant Imagery?
