Toronto Zoo/ROM/AGO - Experiences with these venues?

Hello, everyone!

I've been trying to quickly settle the venue for certain, and plan to make some calls this  week. However, I would love some real experience input from any brides who have used/are using any of the venues listed.  Specifically, we're looking to do a 60-80 guest semi-casual wedding, non-demoninational, probably evening ceremony, with open bar and dance floor/DJ, and need to find somewhere that can accommodate us.

- Atrium specifically, Toronto Zoo
- ROM - we were looking at the RBC foundations room or the reception area near the Samuel galleries.
- AGO

Thanks in advance, and if you have any other venue suggestions that may work for a budget bride, bring them on!

We looked into the AGO since we were getting married at St. Patrick's across the street - all I remember is that they were hard to get a hold of, and way out of our price range!  Things could have changed in the year since I was looking, however!  We looked into the ROM too, but it was too far out from our church in the end.  Sorry I can't be more help!

I use to work at the zoo and it's really, really small. even for a group your size.

I don't know anything about the other ones.

We wanted something casual as well, and ended up going with the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club. It's on the lake (next to Ontario Place), hidden and has an amazing view!
And it's cheap to rent too!

Let me know if you need pictures or more details

    Good luck!

Thanks, ladies!  Yeah, the AGO looks pretty pricy.  The ROM is pretty affordable, from the listed pricing, considering it's a museum.  The church is a non-issue for us since we're not religious at all and don't have familieswho are church goers.

Levenah - Thanks for the info re zoo.  Bummer!  I'd love more details on the Argonaut club - I think I've walked past it for charity walks for Kids Help Phone.

I don't know much about those venues but the AGO and ROM strike me as expensive venues. You'd need to at least rent all of the tables, chairs, linens etc - which gets expensive.

One venue I really liked was the Rosehill. You'd still need to get a caterer but they have furniture, linens, dishes and utensils which would save you those costs. It's a great venue for a wedding your size; we would've gone with it but our guest list was too big.

The ROM includes much of the necessities for the wedding package, from what I was told.  Planning is already making me dizzy! :p  Can someone else take over, yet?  Ha!  Thanks for Rosehill as a tip; super appreciated!
