Submerging Artifical Flowers (bought at Michael's)

I just purchased the two types of flowers below and am planning on submerging them in water in cylindrical vases. I am worried that the colors will run since they are artificial. I heard there is some way to "shock" artificial flowers so they don't bleed in water. Does anyone have any advice?!?

  • I'm not sure how to "shock" them but I suggest you just try them out now and make sure they don't bleed and they don't fall apart in the water.

  • I believe to shock them you're supposed to submerse in ice cold water and then allow to dry. This should prevent bleeding.

  • While I was in college I worked for a catering company and we always submerged artifical flowers.  We never had any problems, but it never hurts on doing a trial run.  Good Luck
