disposable cameras

I was just wondering what everyones take was on disposable cameras at the wedding reception.  I know it is nice to see the reception from someone elses point of view but do they really get used?

    I think they get used but typically not going to capture photos you will want to have as a keepsake. I myself am a culprit of bad picture taking when those are in my presenceEmbarassed especially silly shots after a few drinks through the night.

    Most people come along to events with their own digital camera. My suggestion in this digital age is creating a photo share site. You can log onto any one of numerous photo sites such as snapfish.com, winkflash.com or another of your choice - setting up a generic account for all your wedding guests. Keep the username simple like a combination of your/FI name and the password could always be "wedding". Create little cards that you could put at guest tables, in OOT bags or share on your wedding website. After the wedding all guests log on with the account information you provided and upload all their photos.

    I have only had experience as a guest, but the brides have shared that they pay money to get the cameras and to get them developed only to get about 10-20 pictures.  Our big issue is that the lighting is very dim, and the auto flash feature won't make up for the darkness so we probably won't get much anyway.  I think mRM's idea is perfect!

    I have also heard of having an upload station at the reception, where guests can pop their photo card into a card reader or laptop.

    I'm not sure how this would work out because I wouldn't want to have a laptop attendant to make sure it's done properly.

    That and I might not want all the pictures on my memory card visible to a lot of people! Hahaha not that I have anything bad but still, a little awkward.

    Our escort cards had photo share information -- it was GREAT.  We also had disposable cameras on the tables and they were great too, but of the 20 cameras, we got like 60 good pics.  The photo share site was a MUCH better bang for our buck, but it was great to have both because some people don't take photos or bring a camera.. also we had a scavenger hunt card attached to each....those are funny to look at.  things like "photo of the whole table", "best dancers", or "messiest eater" (which led to a hilarious photo of my husband's grandmother smashing a cupcake in his grandfather's face.

    I know a lot of ladies use vistaprint.com they have wide selection of card sizes and sometimes run sales that you just pay shipping. I've seen photo share cards any size from business card to post card.

    I did ours in MS Word on a template for shipping labels # 8163. I copy and pasted my information into each block - there were ten on a sheet. I was able to fit all my information on one side. I printed them on white card stock and cut them out.

    We placed one card at each table setting.

    I used Vista Print -- cost like like $5 for shipping for 250 of each card.  I did the escort cards as Business Cards and the scavenger hunt cards were printed on Post Cards - but I scaled it so that 2 fit on the post card and then I cut them apart myself.

    We did both. We made business cards for a photo web sharing site and put them at each place setting. We also decorated disposable cameras as made signs and had them on each table. Most people used the cameras although we had 4 go missing. The pictures are not of the greatest quality, but they were nice to have. Pictures will hopefully be coming soon.
