Hawaii

Wedding budget information

Hi guys!! My fiance and I are having a problem deciding on where to have our destination wedding. We are currently looking into an all inclusive resort in Dominican republic or a wedding in Maui. I would looooove to get marry in Maui, but only have $10 000 budget to spend. Were expecting about 20 guests and would like our guests to be seated during the ceremony. Any thoughts to help us decide?? Thanks in advance!! :)

$10,000 can go a long way just about anywhere, as long as you know what your priorities are.  Maui is no exception.  A few words of caution -- public beaches on Maui don't allow any structures, so no arches or chairs would be allowed.  I would also recommend staying away from renting private estates because the site rental fee will eat up about 50% of your budget.

What did you have in mind for your reception?  A lot of ladies here have held their receptions at local restaurants (Mama's Fish House, Gannon's, and Five Palms are very popular) -- that ensures good / hot food, no site fees, no rental fees (tables / chairs / linens), etc.

DH and I originally considered some other destinations -- PV, Costa Rica, Bali, etc.  However, we ultimately picked Hawaii to ease things for our guests.  Cheaper flights, variety of hotel pricing options, and no passports needed.  DH was pretty adamant on the convenience factor for the guests, and I'm glad he was, because I think it absolutely did help more guests attend.

I agree with the previous post :) Also remember you can save on costs getting married on a weekday and if you did want a private estate you can sometimes rent it for a half day

I think it's doable and I'm trying to keep my cost low as well. Olowalu is a private estate that lets you rent it for a sunset ceremony only ($1000), you bring in your chairs, etc. If you host a nice dinner at a restaurant after you could do it all under your budget amount. You could do a short 2-3hr package with a photographer, maybe opt to get cd rights and print your own photos to save more money. I suggest a day of coordinator whose package includes setting up for your ceremony, insurance, and a minister just so you can enjoy your day. Keep the flowers simple or DIY like I am....totally can be done :)

10K can buy you a lot in Maui for only 20 people.  I had 49 people at our wedding at Olowalu and our budget ended up about double yours.  You may have to cut back on some of the fun extras, but you can definitely have a gorgeous wedding with that budget since your group is reasonably small.
