So... super excited about offer being accepted so quickly, I called the office at my apartment complex to discuss terminating our lease and how much notice they need, etc.  Their respose?
30 days written notice (fine, no prob, understandable)
and $2000 early termination fee.  (are you f-ing kidding me?  We have lived here almost 2 years and have been excellent tennants)  Yell

Thoughts?
Right now, I am thinking we will just pay out the last 3 or 4 months... just to spite them.  It would only be an extra few hundred (above the $2K)... plus we can have guests stay there for the wedding, etc.  Screw them.  I am not going to pay them $2K to move out early, then they can move someone else in and bank double.

Know of anyone in need of an apartment on Onondaga Hill for a few months?  Lol.

    Yeah I would either sub-lease or hold out for the last few months and let wedding guests chill there. What a nice way to treat good tenant who would have otherwise had nice things to say about the complex.

    Wow! That blows! When I lived in Buffalo I had the most amazing landlord. I had to get out early and he asked if I could try and fill the apartment and I did. But it fell through and when I told him, he said it was no big deal, thanks for trying, and good luck in life.

    I wouldnt pay them to leave early either. If you can afford to pay the rent, I say do it! Do you pay your own utilities too? Cuz when you move out it'll save a bunch to shut off the heat, cancel the cable, etc. Then just let guests stay!

    Good ideas ladies.  I will probably try to sub-lease it out. 
    Our lease is up in July, but we didn't want to try to find a house, do all the negotiating nonsense, arrange a closing and move-  shortly after the wedding.
    (Time between wedding and end of lease is less than 60 days).  I just didn't want to put us in a position where we HAD to move.  I would rather do it when it is convenient for us (ie spring break). 
    In retrospect, that might be a better idea, but we are knee-deep now... so...  damn
