The most important decision

Hi ladies,

This is not a wedding related post, but I would love your experiences and support. After much prayer and discussion, my fiance and I decided to take the first steps towards adopting a baby. We contacted an adoption agency last week, filled out the initial paperwork, and will begin our biographies and proposal books this weekend. My heart is filled with happiness, and I cannot wait to experience this. As a social worker for child protective services, I see families fulfill their parenting dreams through adoption every day. It feels natural to me to begin this process, and we are sure that this is our calling in life. Your prayers and good vibes would be much appreciated through this time. Thank you :)

Re: The most important decision

  • My MOH and her husband just completed the adoption of their child. She was a Crown Ward in another province, but distantly related so it make it slightly easier on them. They went last fall to spend a week in Alberta, to meet with her, the foster family and the social worker in Alberta. After 4 days, they brought her back to Ontario. Technically they were "fostering" her until permanency could be established. Two weeks ago they got the paperwork to petition for the permanency hearing, and their social worker in Alberta appeared in court on their behalf. They won and she is now their child one hundred percent. I commend people who have the strength and patience to put up with the endless jumping through hoops to give a child a better life and a loving home. Congrats to you and your fiance.

I think that is absolutely wonderful.  Best of luck, wishes, vibes, and anything else I can send your way.  FI and I have plans in the future to adopt a child with special needs, as FI works very closey with kids who have disabilities.  I truly hope everything works out for you!

  • Congratulations! I know that adoption can sometimes become a long and challenging process, but I'm sure the benefits make it worthwhile a million times over. Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way. It is wonderful to know that you're going to someday give a child a family, home, and love that they may not have recieved. :)
