Since you are fair, I would be careful with the tanning. I bet you have beautiful porcelain skin. You could try, but start out going the bare minimum time so you don't burn. You don't want to be red on your wedding day.
With all the reports about how dangerous tanning beds are ... I'd stay out. Try a spray tan, just make sure you do a trial run, and have them use one of their lightest settings so it looks more natural.

I'm fair skinned too. I'm going tanning for 2 months before the wedding (like every other day). I just don't trust getting spray tanned for such a big event. I don't want to risk being orange or blotchy.
Not to tan. If you don't have a dress yet, see if ivory works better with your skin tone. It's essentially a shade of white but can make a world of difference. Some designers also have dresses in champagne, light pink, or other alternative colors.
I am getting married in one month and three weeks and tan fairly easily out here in California. However I am getting married in a large and elaborate wedding out of state, where I am orginially from, so I do intend to spray tan very naturally, but not too much as I did for one of my best friends weddings at Christmas time almost six years ago.. I just want my skin to took perfect and summery!!!!
Getting ready to soon marry and become Mrs. S soon! Can't wait. After one year and a half of planning I am ready!!!
I say don't tan. I'm very fair-skinned as well, but since that's how I always am, that's how I will be on my wedding day. You want to look like yourself on that day, and most certainly not orange. Spray tans and even tanning beds never give a 100% natural look, from my opinion. I say embrace your fair skin.
Also, it depends on your coloring whether you will look better in ivory or white. Since I have pink-ish undertones in my skin, I purchased a true white dress. I tried on both at the bridal salons, but the white really worked better for me.
I would NOT spray tan for your wedding...even if you do a trial run. I just had one (sprayed on by someone... not in a booth) and it was soo blotchy. I would not take the chance, you never know how it will turn out that day. Also, it does not fade evenly. It's two weeks later and I still have some dark areas and the rest of me is pale. I'm normally against tanning but I'm making an exception for my wedding.
don't. I know a girl who did and it was SO streaky and bad. If you need to the jergans lotion works ok. I've tried it and i'm pretty fair with some freckles.
Thanks for all the tips -- I have gathered that most of you don't think spray tanning would be a good idea (I never planned on that actually). I have an ivory dress and I think I will tan a couple times a week for a month or two before the wedding so I'm not ghost white. But I do acknowledge the embracing my true shade advice, will do! Thanks!

If you want a little color, I like the gradual self tanners since they're hard to screw up.
