Here's some background. This is a second wedding for me. At my first wedding, I literally carried around a picture of two dresses and asked opinions of those close to me. Everyone else seemed to like a certain dress, so that's the one I chose. Later, I ended up hating it. Now that I'm doing all of this again, I feel like I have a chance to do it my way... to make sure I'm happy.
With that said, today I went to try on dresses for the first time. I have a very specific look in mind of the type of dress I'd like to wear. I don't want a train. I'm not a fan of lace, rhinestones, embellishments, etc. However, I can't seem to find it in a wedding gown. It apparently only comes as a bridesmaid dress. I think I'm fine with this. Today, while shopping, a bridesmaid of mine pointed out that she felt like I'd look like a guest in a white dress instead of the bride. Now I'm questioning ... is this something I'll actually look back one and feel that way?
I like the dress. It's what I want. I know it's my wedding and I should do what I want ... so on and so forth. I just wonder if maybe she's bringing up a valid point and I'm just being stubborn. Has anyone ever used a bridesmaid dress for their wedding gown?
