Where are you girls having your rehearsal dinner/welcome dinner? I'm looking for something laid back and fun. We'll be staying in the Kihei area. We're up to any ideas, but a public luau since we're doing that for our wedding night.
For our welcome dinner we will be ordering food from Da Kitchen and hosting at our condo...for our rehearsal dinner were doing to at a luau...so that's not much help. One of my fav restos for proximity to ocean and cost of food is Hula Grill but that's in Kaanappli. In Kihei there is Cafe O'Lei, 5 Palms, Mala at the Marriott and Serento's...although i have not eaten at any of them but have heard good things about their food...especially Cafe O'Lei. If you are looking for cheap and informal i would order in from Da Kitchen or a similar Hawaiian food type resto. HTH! J. :-)
I'm probably going the same route as Maui2011 with having a caterer come out to our condo. But I know Cafe o'lei is a great place to eat. I'm having them caterer my wedding. I think it depends on what kind of atmosphere you want.
We had our welcome dinner during happy hour at the South Shore Tiki Lounge in Kihei. I contacted them a couple months beforehand, and they reserved a few picnic tables on their patio for us. We had a *fantastic* time there - they put together about 6 big picnic tables for our group, and they had live music b/c it was happy hour (local singer/guitar player Erin Smith). Food and drinks were relatively affordable, and it was a really fun setting for people to chat and relax. It's really casual, but if you're like us and were looking for that, it's perfect. Pics in bio.
We are having a welcome BBQ on the 4th of July. We will grill good as well as bringing some in from Da Kitchen, and we are just going to take over our condo complex. All but 6 people attending our wedding (out of 60) will be staying at another complex, so it will be easy and convenient for them!
We are doing a 4th of July welcome BBQ at the condo, too. We will be making the food ourselves and getting stuff from Costco. Still up in the air about the rehearsal dinner. We are thinking of getting food from Mint since we will be in Paia and having it at my mom's condo.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Cafe O'Lei. The food was really good, a hawaii flair and the price was reasonable. It was a good setting to accommodate our group size.
