We woke up at 5:00 AM to get ready to go to the Grand Canyon.
We went to the Grand Canyon and it was a long ride there from the Las Vegas to get to Arizona.
We took a tour bus through the desert with no green grass or trees. We made a few stops other than the Grand Canyon. Our first stop was at a Wild Animal Café for breakfast. We had bagels for breakfast, Bill had a sesame bagel, and Kelly had a onion bagel with cream cheese. We both had orange juice to drink and we took apples with us on the bus.
We drove some more and passed cactuses and home that were old looking and not as n ice as homes here. We passed though a state line security check and a state trooper got on the bus and made sure we didn’t have anything illegal. We stopped at an Arizona trading post to buy gifts and we also took pictures of some emus that was there. Bill also bought a shot glass for his mom’s collection. We drove some more and saw people waiting in line to pump water since they didn’t have any in their homes. We drove really fast up an old dirt road to the top of the Grand Canyon. When we got outside the bus we were shocked that there were no guard rails or anything to stop people from falling. It was a beautiful view and you could see mountains for miles. At one point there was a broken rock formation that looked like an eagle.
Bill scared Kelly by walking very close to the edge and looking down into the canyon. We threw rocks over the edge and we couldn’t even see or here where they landed. If you looked a certain way you could see the Colorado River flowing at the bottom. We got back on the bus and stopped further up the Grand Canyon for lunch prepared by an Indian tribe. We both had barbecue chicken and corn, and had rice but didn’t eat it. We both gave the baked beans that we had to Kelly’s dad. We were given water to drink but we purchased mountain dew to drink. There were Indians selling hand-made bracelets and jewelry. We looked around but didn’t buy anything.
But later in the hotel room, Kelly found an ankle bracelet that was the same as the ones there and wore it. We walked down a dirt path looking at the mountains some more and looked for a rock for bill for bring back as a souvenir. We got back on the bus and drove back down the dirt road and a little further to a cactus forest. These cactuses were called Joshua Trees, and were very sharp and pointy. The tour guide said that the trees were very dangerous and you could get injured if you ran into one. He also said that there are rattlesnakes out in the forest and not to go too far because of them. We drove back to the wild animal café again and had chocolate milkshakes made with real chocolate ice cream.
We got up around 7:00 AM to get ready to go to the Hoover Dam. We went on a small tour bus that only held about 12 people. Our first stop was at the security check again. This time though the state trooper just looked in the front window of the bus and then let us go. This trip didn’t take as long as the Grand Canyon trip and we got there pretty fast. Half of the Hoover Dam was in Arizona and the other half was in Nevada.
We walked across the whole dam and at the state line we kissed between the two states. On the rocks of the Arizona side you could see how high the water had risen in 1983 where the dam almost flooded. The water was a very pretty blue and green color and didn’t look dirty like the rivers here. We went outside and watched a video on how the workers built the dam. The showed us about an elevator that used to take the workers to the bottom of the dam that was very scary. We rode a very packed elevator down to the bottom where we walked though a rocky cave to the place where the generators for electricity are. We got back on the bus and we drove to a park where the tour guide said that long horn sheep are usually at. We didn’t see any though since they were cutting the grass there and the sheep were probably too scared to come down from the mountains. We saw residential homes up close and they were very small and didn’t have any basements.
We drove home a different way that we had never been through, a shopping area that residential people shop at. We passed Wayne Newton’s ranch and there were about six horses in is front yard. We also passed Mike Tyson’s house.
We had a day to ourselves where we went swimming at the pool on the third floor of our hotel.
We walked the streets of Las Vegas and Kelly got an airbrush tattoo in front of Harrah’s casino.
We went to the Imperial Palace for a free auto show. It was pretty need to see all kind of old cars. We stopped down stairs and had a free sample of Ethel M chocolate candy. We also walked into the food court and stopped at Subway for lunch. They had the cheddar bread that we can’t find around here anymore. We got it with turkey and cheese and cucumbers. We had mountain dew to drink. We stopped at Denny’s for breakfast twice during the trip.
(FISHY WOULD BE PROUD!!!) We had cherry coke drink there and chicken fingers. We also had fries and applesauce.
On the last day of our trip we checked out of our hotel at 11:00 in the morning. We walked around Las Vegas one last time before we flew out. We walked around for 9 and half hours until we caught the shuttle to the airport.
Then we sat in there until our plane took off at 11:00 that night. We boarded the plane and we ended up falling asleep for the 3 hour and 40 minutes plane ride. We got off the plane in Detroit and had a lay over there for and hour. During the lay over we stopped and bought some chocolate milk. We board plane at 7:09 in the morning.
Kelly wasn’t feeling well the minute she got on the plane. As soon as the plane took off she got sick to her stomach and became dizzy. Bill pushed the service button and a flight attend came back and he asked her for some water. The trip was very short it was only 30 minutes long. About 5 minutes before landing Kelly got sick and vomited all over herself, Bill, her sister, the seats and people in front of her. Kelly felt very embarrassed but ended up laughing it off because she couldn’t believe she got sick. As soon as we landed and was about to get off the plane Bill and Kelly both ran to the restroom to clean our selves up from the gross vomit all over us. It was just a wonderful way to end a great vacation.
