Best bustier

I'm really trying to get a good bustier to wear underneath my wedding dress.  I know some people have had cups sewn in, but I wonder how expensive that is.  I'd rather just get something underneath.  Anyone have some good ones that don't fall down, offer support, and have a lower back (nothing crazy, but just lower than a normal strapless bra).  Help! I need to have this soon because I need to get my fitting done ASAP.

Re: Best bustier

  • Are you talking about a longline bra?  I tried a few on at various stores.  i actually liked the cheaper dept store ones better than any lingerie store or bridal shop.  i got mine awhile ago -- pretty sure it was at jcpenney.  I went for the boring, smooth look so that no bumps or lace or anything show through my dress.  SOmething along the lines of this:

The cups vs undergarment debate comes in to play with what fabric and style your dress is.  A longline bra might show through chiffon or other lightweight fabrics. Also, if your dress has back detailing, or a low cut back, the bra might stick out.  It's basically trial and error.  If you have to, buy a couple to try on with your dress, and return the ones that don't work.

I bought 3 from JCPenny.com and returned the ones I didn't like/didn't fit. It really really is hit or miss, just keep looking and make sure you check out return policies if you're ordeirng stuff online. JCpenny took back the ones I didn't want no problem.

  • Thanks y'all! I appreciate the input! I really need to get my dress alterations but I haven't made an appointment just because I've been stressing out about this bustier and what to wear underneath! It's been more difficult picking that out than the dress
