Question for Orlando locals??

Sorry to crash your board... just had a question.

We are flying into Orlando the day of the wedding, before leaving sunday for our cruise. We should have some time Saturday afternoon/evening and we're looking for something to do.

I was hoping Disney or Universal would have a deal for single days tickets if they weren't purchased til the afternoon (so only good for a couple hours) but I haven't been able to find anything. We won't have a car so probably have to cab it to where ever. Anyone have any suggestions for something fun to do or somewhere neat to eat?

Thanks ladies!!!!

Universal CityWalk should have cool places to eat at such as the Hard Rock Cafe, or you could always go down to "Downtown Disney / Pleasure Island" which is near Disney. Rainforest Cafe is a neat place to eat at!

I heard they have changed downtown disney (or are changing) to a family friendly eating and shopping. I believe I heard it was not the nightlife destination that it once was...

I agree with the PPs that suggest Universal City Walk or Downtown Disney. They have the fun park atmosphere without the park admission prices, the crowds, or lines to do stuff. They each have great places to eat, tons of things to see, and plenty of places to take nice pics. Plus, most hotels have free shuttles to these areas so as long as you don't plan on staying all night you can save some by catching a shuttle.
    Congrats! Have Fun!!

The part of downtown disney that was changed was pleasure island. It used to be clubs, bars, and comedy clubs. This has since changed because it wasn't "family friendly" and it is now restaurants and shops.

I-Drive also has many fun things to do. Dave and Busters just opened there and there are a TON of interesting restaurants (Kobe and Cafe Tutu Tango are my favorites).

I agree with the Citywalk and Jasara's suggestion of I-drive. Realistically it depends where you are staying also because you don't want to be taking a cab across town if you're trying to save money. If you're hotel offers shuttle services as suggested then definitely try to work with that if possible. Definitely less hassle that way and less stress on the two of you.

I-drive was on our radar too. Any thoughts/opinions on Ripleys? How about any unique restaurants near that area of Idrive.

We aren't exactly trying to be frugal, we have no problem cabbing it to where-ever we want to go. Just found it hard to justify $85/tickets to Disney just for a couple hours. lol

Not really unique but Maggianos is really good.  Family style so you & your new hubbie could just share something.

Too bad our governor shot down high speed rail, in the future we could have had you in downtown for the afternoon or the beach.

I think City Walk is 100 times better than DT Disney. I was just there yesterday and it was a lot of fun. We ate at Emiril's which was delicious but pricey...$290.00 for 3 people...And that is with only 2 cocktails and no appetizers, one shared desert...

One of my favorite restaurants is Salt Island Grill on I-Drive. There food is amazing! And a fun atmosphere. Have a blast!
