Hotel? We're leaving the next morning...

We're trying to decide whether or not to get a hotel room for the night of. We are leaving the reception at 9 and at 6 the next morning for the airport. So... what to do? What to do?

If we get a room it will be a jacuuzi suite at the hotel I used to work at. Two of my friends still work there so there's a possibility that we could get a good rate. Hmm....

Suggestions?

  • I probably wouldn't unless we needed the room to get ready in or our house was far from the reception or the airport. Unless there's another reason, other than just that its your wedding night, getting a hotel for 9 hours seems like an unnecessary expense to me.

  • i will be getting our room for 3 hours unfortunately! i tossed the idea up and down about not getting it but it was not worth traveling the 45 minto travel another 1-1/2 hrs to the airport an hour later.  i think it depends, it seems like you have plenty of time to go home or wherever you may be staying from the reception i would save the money and spend it on your honeymoon!

  • We decided not to for a few reasons.  The expense seemed unnecessary since we are leaving for our honeymoon the next day and will be spending $ for 2 weeks worth of hotels.  Why add one more night if we don't "have" to.  It would be different if we weren't going on a honeymoon immediately - then I would want my one night in a hotel.

We are in a similar situation in that our reception ends at 11, and I will need to wake up around 4:30 or so because I am competing in a triathlon the next day.  Our flight is later that day, but I didn't want to have to pack for that extra night.  It just made sense for us to go home.

  • If you get a good rate and can afford it, go for it!

  • We are because I needed to get a room to get ready in and since our wedding doesn't start until way later in the day I wouldn't be able to do the 12 pm or even late check out. I didn't want to book a room for a few hours so we just figured we would head back to the hotel after the wedding.

  • We're going home after the reception. A) Trying to save every little penny! and B) I won't have to lug a suitcase to the wedding.

  • FI and I have tossed this around for a while too and we decided to forego the whole hotel thing after the reception.  Our reception doesn't end until 11:30 and it will be midnight by the time we get to a hotel or home.  So we arrainged for the kids to spend the night elsewhere so we can have some alone time our first night as husband and wife.  Then we will be leaving on a family honeymoon on Sunday after the wedding.

  • We decided not too. We are also leaving the next day, but not until mid-day. It was just pointless to get room when we have to pack again for the honeymoon. I want to be able to relax a bit after the wedding in our home before we leave for our honeymoon.
