Final Dress Pics- As Promised!

Here are the pictures taken at my final dress fitting!  This is pretty much how I am going to look on the wedding day (with hair and makeup done, of course).  Oh, and I don't have my hair comb in, only my veil.

I can't believe it's almost here.  I won't post pictures of what it originally looked like, but it looks so much better now (original pics are in my new bio).  What do y'all think??

Love the bustle!  It really shows off the blue.

20 days to go!  I can't wait to pick up my dress.  My appointment is set up for next Tuesday (the 21st).  Then I only have to worry about storing it wrinkle free for another week and a half!

Thanks ladies!  All that matters is that I feel beautiful in it!

The only thing that we are going to change is the corset strings.  In the fourth picture, the strings are hanging down over the train.  They will be tucked into my dress (at the bottom of the corset, there is a little opening since it is a corset back), so they won't interfere with the color of the train and whatnot.

I HIGHLY recommend Sophia for alterations.  She knew exactly where I wanted things (my sleeves had to be altered, and I wanted them in a place where they would break up the white expanse of chest I have, LOL).  She listened to me when I explained what I wanted for a train (I didn't want to lose the color when bustled), and not only made it work, but made it work so the bustle won't break.  My train is REALLY heavy (it's a semi cathedral length of double satin), so making sure the bustle was strong was really important.
If you go to a seamstress and they tell you they use ties instead of hook&eye, RUN THE OTHER WAY.  Ties ALWAYS break, in some way shape or form, and then your bustle has to be retied in a configuration that doesn't look like your bustle at all (I have seen it, trust me).  Sophia used Hook&Eye, and that thing isn't going to go anywhere.  Plus, i love the way it sways from side to side when I walk- I feel like I was transported to Victorian times!
Sophia is also altering my mom's dress.  She is just a wonderful person, and really good at what she does.  She is a little more in price, yes, but I would rather pay a little more in price to insure my bustle won't break than have my bustle look not so great in pictures.
Now, to figure out two things.  One, I forgot to have her remove the beading under the armpits.  CRAP.  So we have to figure out how to cover the beads so they don't rub (I am thinking pinning strips of white fabric overtop the beads, any other suggestions?).  Second, because of my meds, I sweat- alot.  A LOT.  Which means my thighs chafe.  I want to get a pair of bike shorts/thigh smoothers/something to be comfortable in, but I am a plus size and don't know where to go to get one.  Thoughts?

    Thanks again everyone!

My bustle had 3 ties and stayed put all night.  I agree with Sophia's quality of work.  I took a BM dress with rouching to her and she altered it perfectly!

Try Macys for bike shorts (lingerie section, check out the body smoothers).  I'm around a size 10 and fit into medium shorts, so you may be ok in the regular stores with a larger size.

    Its gorgeous!

Thanks Hil.  You are the first person I have ever heard who had ties and they all stayed!  What material was your dress?  I can't remember if it was satin or lighter material.

I checked Macy's but that was before my weight loss.  I think it might be worth it check again.  I can also look at Avenue Plus and Lane Bryant if worse comes to worse, but I really didn't want to spend an arm and a leg!

Any suggestions for the beading under the armpits issue?!

Have you tried Bare Essentials?  They might have stuff.... I know Spanx has shorts.  And I know Bare Essentials does have a decent amount of plus sizes of things.

For the beading... I'd be afraid that you'd see the piece of fabric over it.  Let me ask FMIL and see what she says.  She might have some ideas.  You could try removing the beads... just get a seam ripper from Joann's.

I know this sounds crazy but a pageant friend told me about this trick so your thighs don't sweat and rub together..you use the spray deodorant to spray your thighs..I didn't believe it but tried it since my thighs rub together too and it worked. lol strange but whatever works!

I got a pair of Assets (Spanx plus size line).  I wore them for my wedding (they were my something old because I had them for about a year.  I actually just bought a new pair to wear to YOUR wedding.  They are super comfortable and you can buy them either from the website or from Amazon.com.  (i ordered mine from amazon because the actual website didnt' carry my size anymore..i always order a size larger cause I want to feel comfortable).  Also, try Lane Bryant or Avenue.  They carry plus size shapers.

btw, the gown is BEAUTIFUL!  I can't wait to see you in it!
