 I'm sick of the vendors and same-old venue questions over here! tiffgriffin helped revive the board last week with the 'get to know you' thread, we have to keep this board alive! I know you're out there!

so quickie poll:

    1. If you were to have an 'alternate universe' wedding, where everything was different from the one you had/will have, but you still liked it, what would it be?
    Probably a really swanky, fancy evening affair starting at 5-6pm, going late into the night at a cool loungy venue in downtown Portland. 200 guests, gourmet food, reception decorated like a lounge with couches. Passed appetizers and wait staff.  This is the alternate universe where I don't have a budget, right?

    Always having to be right. Not exactly a bad habit, but annoying

    Tells me how much he loves me and gives me compliments

    A nerd/gamer wedding in Seattle. FI would be dressed as Doctor Who, my dress would be tea length and polka dotted, and the bridal party would be dressed funky semi-casual. The cake would be cupcakes, and the centerpieces would be lego creations. The entertainment for the evening would be a projection screen with Rock Band and a wii hooked up. The whole affair would be at the end of August so we could honeymoon at the Penny Arcade Expo.

    2. name a bad habit of FI's you can't stand.

    He puts off doing the dishes for days, and then wonders why I don't want to cook in the cluttered and dirty kitchen.

    he drives me to class so I can sleep for 15 more minutes every morning Laughing

    1. If you were to have an 'alternate universe' wedding.I would DIY everything and have it in my backyard. I have way to many guests and not enough energy to pull it off but I think those are the most romantic weddings.
    2. name a bad habit of FI's you can't stand.Leaving used tissues and handkerchiefs all over the house.

    Yeah definitely probably a DW.  That would be fun, we would just rather have all of our loved ones present!

    He has recently started saying "Kachuga" for everything.  Like as a sound effect for EVERYTHING he does.  I guess it's from the movie Cars.  Anyway, I could kill him.  It drives me absolutely insane.
    3. name a nice thing FI does for you regularly.
    He knows I LOVE muddy buddies (you know, the Chex things?).  Anyway, he makes them for me like at least once a week, especially when I'm studying.  We will have to stop that the closer we get to our wedding LOL.  But for now it's great =)
    4.  I chose "other" in the poll.  I work in the same office as my FMIL, so wedding info. is shared A LOT.  We are quite often talking about the wedding, and some of the other ladies we work with even have helped us search online for wedding-related things.  Anyway, because we both work there and it is discussed, we are inviting everyone.  There are only a few people who will be likely to come, but we're inviting everyone to be polite.

       A super fancy black tie affair in a swanky loft. There would be ice sculptures and a three coarse meal. The party would go late into the night and me and FI would leave in a limo.

       He has started leaving the dinner table before I finish! I drives me crazy. I'll ask him to stay and he'll roll his eyes and sit down. It drives me bonkers!

        He works so hard at work so I can finish school and start my career.

    We're already having a nerd themed wedding.  Maybe destination wedding in disney world or something?

    4. coworkers coming to the wedding?
    we invited a couple ex-coworkers, but none from where I currently work.  The ex-coworkers are also friends, and FI worked with some family, so they are coming too.

    Everything would be the exact same, except I would be skinny enough to pull off a dress that presently would make me look as big as a cow, we would have a full bar, instead of just beer and wine, have a dinner instead of desserts, basically just up how expensive everything is...unlimited budget sort of thing

    the dishes...I hate doing dishes
    4. I said other because I am a nanny so technically there will be four people from work, that is the two kids I nanny and their parents, who are technically my bosses, but I don't think it's the same as just saying "4" because I am so close with them it's like they are extended family.

    I would have a modern feel/black-tie wedding in a grand ballroom or someplace fancy like The Nines hotel. It would have amazingly delicious and expensive food and alcohol and we could party late into the night until we end up in our swanky hotel rooms!

    2. name a bad habit of FI's you can't stand .I suppose it's not really a habit, but he is THE most picky eater EVER! It seriously limits my dinner-making options to like 5 meals.
    3. name a nice thing FI does for you regularly. He makes me laugh. And he plans "surprise dates" where I have no idea where we are going or what we are doing :)

    I would go all out. With money not being an issue in my alternative universe, there is no limit to what I would do. However, I LOVE Ruby Ale, so we would be out at The Grand Lodge with all the trimmings. I'd pay for my girls dresses and get them matching bags and upgrade my dress to a similar style but more opulent and sparkly and I'd get the headband I fell in love with but refuse to pay 100 bucks for...

    He absolutely refuses to rinse out/off his dishes when he's done eating...

    We both have co-workers that we dislike (severely) that like us and others that we both love, so our solution is to invite none of our co-workers to avoid hurt feelings (especially since ours is already a medium sized, family-only event.



    1.  My theme would be Steampunk/Clock work butterflies  with a cherry blossom backdrop.  In the real world, having custom made clock work butterflies for things is just too expensive!

    2.  My FI and I just do not get a long at all and I think he's one of the rudest people on the planet.  In the past year he has told me to put my cat to sleep because she was sick and threw up on the carpet once.  He was so intent on this that he got the cat carrier out and was hunting down the cat until I forcefully removed him from our property.  Actually, that's the least horrible thing he has done to me in the past year.

    3. Something nice my FI does:  uuuuuuuuh....  Four years ago he let us have his extra indoor primer paint so we could paint our basement.

    I would have a Harlem Renaissance themed wedding, with a 20's -30's Cotton Club feel to it.  Then as the evening progressed have it transform more into a "Speak Easy or Jook Joint" atmosphere where things get a little looser and wilder. Think like the movies "Harlem Nights" and "Idlewild".

    He never closes a cabinet or drawer after he's finished in the kitchen.  Drives me CRAZY!!

    3. name a nice thing FI does for you regularly.

    He gives me neck and back massages after a long day at work!!
