Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

I am having my wedding at the Fuller Garden in the Ft Worth Botanic Gardens. It is set for July, as of now. Wanting to know if anyone has had their wedding there or been to a wedding there. Wondering how pretty the flowers will be near the end of July? Hoping they won't all be dead! And any other suggestions/tips for an outside summer wedding in TX?

My suggestion would be not to do it.

If that is not an option, talk to the venue to see what their suggestions would be to make it the most comfortable for everyone.

I would suggest not having an outdoor wedding in the summer in TX for you and your guests benefits.

I did outdoor e-pics in April and felt like uncomfortably warm after about 10 min of being outside and that was just in normal clothes.

My wedding was in August, and we had outdoor pictures for about 5 min, and we felt like we were melting. I couldn't imagine being outside in my wedding gear for much longer than that or subjecting my guests to that level of heat.

There are options of venues that look over nice golf courses, water, nice scenery, etc but are indoors, and I would suggest you go with one of those options.

I think providing fans and bottled water (with custom labels would be cute) would be a great idea to help keep your guests cool and comfortable. Maybe even provide those paper umbrellas to guests (the name of them escapes me) for shade.

Also, I would ask the staff at the Botanical Gardens for suggestions on what has been done in the past to keep guests (and you!) cool.

I agree with all the other posters and say don't have an outdoor wedding in TX in July. Your guest will be miserable and you will be also. Consider changing the date if you are dead set on outdoors or find a new venue if you want a July wedding!

I would also suggest not doing an outdoor summer wedding in Texas.

I went to one in July 2010, and we had to sit outside for a good 20 minutes or so before the ceremony started and my face was literally melting off. And then men (and some women) had huge sweat spots in the arms, backs and other places (oh my!).

For the sake of your guests (and you!) - don't do it outdoors.

I was there a few summers ago while a wedding was going on and they looked miserable. I saw the bride leaving to go to the reception and she was hot, sweaty and looked drained. I bet she had to clean up before the reception. It's your decision but it would be a big No for me.

When I was looking at the weston gardens she showed me some pictures of an August wedding.

They had a large bucket of iced down water and provided country time lemonaide powder drink mixes. That's an idea!

I've been to a wedding there, but it is was in October and it was hot then. I'm sure not as hot as July, but still it made it uncomfortable. The reception was pleasant because it was inside, but I do recall the photographer getting their car broken into during the event.

Agreed with PP, don't do an outdoor wedding in July. I did my bridals the first of August and was outside for at most 15 minutes and I started to feel dizzy and had to immediately do inside. As a guest if I knew you were doing an outdoor wedding in July (even in the evening) I would RSVP "no" because of how uncomfortable I'd be. Just something to keep in mind.

My sister had her wedding outside on 7-7-07 and it was miserable! All of the bridesmaids were sweating like no other! I would not do it either.

I will say this about the fort worth botanic garden. I remember exactly what I ate at that wedding. It was 2 years ago this past October. It was delicious!

Our outdoor wedding is April (not as hot as July), and we're thinking of having bottled water for the guests. I think Tiffany's suggestions of fans (maybe even fan programs so you can kill two birds with one stone) and parasols will help out as well.

My sister was married in August outdoors, and it was not the best experience I've ever had, but we survived. (key: bring baby powder - all the bridesmaids were brushing it on each others backs and legs to help with the sweat spots Brianna mentioned - b/c yikes, no one wants that!) We provided ice water, lemonade, and fans (she put her programs on them) for all the guests before it started (I think she had a 630pm start). I would also suggest starting as late as possible - I could be blocking things out, but I think I remember it being much better after the sun had been down for a bit. I will warn you, the groomsmen and several other guys that were in tuxes changed into shorts and tshirts almost immediately after the ceremony - just a thought for pictures taken throughout the reception. You may even want to talk to your venue (or whoever you're renting from) about getting fans w/ misters or something? hth!

I wouldnt suggest doing an outdoor wedding in the summer time in Texas its so hot! but on the plus side the gardens are beautiful and ceromonies dont usually last very long so if your having and inside reception it may not be quite that bad but you do have to think about what type of clothes you and your guests are going to be wearing! Im sure the men in tuxes will get extreamly hot and sweaty!
