Getting in Shape

food?

What kinds of foods are you ladies eating? I am going grocery shopping today and only want to pick up some healthy stuff. Its hard for me to cook since I work 1pm to 9pm. I seem to always be grabbing something to go. I love veggies and fruits. My downfall is pasta and bread. Its so easy to get those microwave meals but they're so high in sodium. I have 2 months to lose the weight I need...10 or 20 lbs. The more the better to try to fit into my dress and still leave my alterationist time in case she has to let it out. TYIA!

Re: food?

  • Just don't buy pasta and bread...
    Then you can't eat it.
Or buy the reeeally healthful stuff that makes you not want to eat as much.
I don't keep any frozen meals in my freezer. That stuff is awful for you. '
    My grocery shopping is boring.
    veggies
    fruits
    nuts
some cooking basics (like almond/quinoa flour if I'm out, baking soda, etc)
    almond milk

    Nothing terribly outlandish.

  • Chickpeas and cucumbers are my go-to munchie foods right now.  For dinner, chicken always works.

  • Lobster how do you prepare your chickpeas
  • Sometimes we bake them with a very light dab of olive oil and some seasoning - they only keep crunchy for about a day or two.  Seasonings depend on mood - everything from spicy (with some chile powder and cayenne), plain (with sea salt), or 'movie style' (a little bit of parm.)

I also put them into a chickpea casserole which has become one of our favorite meatless dinners.

  • I do a lot of Hungry Girl's recipes.  There was one this week for BBQ Chicken Cornbread Casserole with under 300 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving.  We eat a LOT of chicken.  FI likes beef so I buy the 96/4 organic beef and try to make a beef meal every other week.

  • lots of fruits and veggies, minimize most fat out of your diet, and if you do pasta then eat whole wheat noodles with smaller portions.
  • I like to snack on baby carrots, one thing of string cheese or one piece of turkey jerky. Its all about moderation :) We have two sets of large (regular sized) plates and a set of smaller ones. I have taken to using the smaller plates and making better food choices for my bigger meals. Instead of having beef burgers or steaks, we bought salmon burgers at costco and I gotta say that they are very addicting. One thing that is really helping me stay accountable for what I eat each day, is the website Lose It! I was completely lost when it came to counting calories and such; how many can I have and all that. The best thing is that it is a free site lol
