Adults Only Search

We are looking into HMs in October in Cancun/Riviera Maya. I have very little patience for other peoples' children so I've really been focusing on adults only options. Are there any travel sites that have adults only as a search function? I'm not seeing it on tripadvisor, orbitz, expedia, etc., and there are so many options it is getting really old having to click through to every hotels description to see if kids are allowed.

I'm looking at a lot of the suggestions from here as well (excellence, royal, dreams, etc)...

I'm with you about having very little patience for other peoples' children and have always tried to avoid them on vacation. Besides an adult only location have you thought about a cruise? Don't get me wrong some cruise lines have a s**t load of kids and they will drive you out of your mind, however, some don't and it's nice. Princess Cruises has a small amount of kids and Royal Caribbean has kids but they have their own deck so you don't see much of them. Some ships have adult only pools and if you go the later dinner seating you don't see any. Just a thought...
  • I've never done a cruise - always had a feeling I wouldn't like them. I'll try one some day just not for the HM :)
  • Look into the Palace Resort in Isla Mujeres. It's a small adults-only all-inclusive. It's an island right off the coast of Cancun, so you get the beautiful waters without the party scene.
  • Check out the Valentin Imperial Maya in Riviera Maya. It's a great adults only all inclusive.
  • We are going to The Royal in Cancun (Real Resorts) It is an Adults only!! Minimum 16 years hehe
  • We are going to the Excellence Playa Mujeres

You can try travel companies like Apple Vacations, they have an adults-only search option.  We booked our HM to Secrets Maroma Beach via Apple.
  • We are going to the Golden Parnassus Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun, Mexico.  I recommend talking to a travel agent.  They can show you many options to fit your interests and budget.

  • Lots of good options here!  Some I like -

    The Royal Cancun
    Excellence Playa Mujeres
    Excellence Riviera
    Secrets Maroma
    Le Blanc
    Sun Palace

Zoetry is also a highly regarded brand.  Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita is one I might look into if you're looking for a higher end experience.  They include a daily bottle of champagne, airport transfers, laundry, free worldwide phone calls, a catamaran cruise, and other amenities in their prices.  The one drawback is they are adults-oriented and not adults-only, so there may be a stray kid here or there.  I'd consider the time of year you're going on your hm.  We went to Zoetry Agua in Pu*nta Cana and saw maybe 3 kids during our stay (during school spring break).

  • Viceroy ! We have been looking into staying there ourselves. It looks amazing!  Its very private, you get your own villa with private pool. No children under 16. It has great reviews on Tripadvisor.

    Girlinchicago -
You bring up a very good point. I'm trying to stick to $3500 pp but can stretch to about $4k. Zoetry, Secrets Maroma, and Sun Palace are a bit out of reach. There are a lot of really highly rated 4* AIs that do allow kids, and some more affordable. I'm wondering if I am being unreasonable in not considering them?

We are looking at 10/15-10/25, so theoretically, school just started and there shouldn't be kids there, right? I want calm and peace - and like I say my patience with children is a personality flaw I have to work on.... just not on my honeymoon. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

Some of the places I was disappointed to see allowed children were the beloved, dreams resorts, sandos, Privilege, now resorts, and barcelo maya delux.

So am I being too picky?

Not being picky at all! I absolutely love kids, but FI and I were definitely set on going to an adults only resort for our honeymoon.

We're booked at Excellence Playa Mujeres in early October and can't wait!

Check out tripadvisor for resort reviews and you should get an idea whether a resort is adults only or not. Good luck!

OP- I'm surprised to hear that you can't get Secrets Maroma for under $4000pp; we HMed there in late Oct '10 with a preferred club swimout room from Chicago for 7 nights and out total package was about $4200 (for 2 people!)

I just did a quick search of your dates for air and hotel (on Expedia) and you can easily stay within your budget at Secrets Maroma, Aqua Live, and several Palace resorts.  Same thing for Jamaica, at the Couples and Sandals resorts, which are both adult only.

FWIW I would only want adult-only for my HM, so I'm with you :-)  And I highly recommend both Sun Palace and Couples Swept Away.  I've heard good things about Secrets Maroma but I've never been myself.

Edit: just saw you you're only looking for Cancun.  In any event, can still be done in your price range.

Do you mean 3500 for 2 ppl? I was researching and most are under 2000 (including Sun Palace) for a couple including flights. Try Expedia!

  • I don't know what expedia you ladies are on!

We're open to CUN or RM. For rates right now I am seeing (again this is 10/15-25... I suppose we could cut down a day or two but I like long vacations):

    VIM: $3124
    RPDC: $3157
    Excellence Cancun: $3381
    Excellence PM: $3500
    Royal Cancun: $3735
    Secrets Maroma: $5066

Those are all with the cheapest room option.

For some reason Sun Palace and Aqua Live aren't showing up in my search results today.

Since I've already been to DR and Jamaica I'd like to try somewhere new, but for the right price I would return to one of those islands.  However, the Sandals and Couples resorts on Jamaica are both showing up $4k+ pp.

Are checking out of Boston?  I'm still getting the prices I got yesterday and I am checking Oct 15-25).  Maybe I could save one of the itineraries and PM it to you, than you could try to replicate it in your account?  Are you maybe reading the total price as per person? In any event, when you're ready to purchase, do so on a Tuesday (and never Fri-Sun)-- published rates are usually at their lowest on Tuesdays.  And try your search form the main Expedia page clicking "air & hotel", not "vacation packages".

What is your total budget?  For 3500pp, you could meet any of the items you listed above.  Do you mean $3,500 total and not per person?

Via applevacations.com, flying out of Boston for 2 adults 10/15-10/25, I found (total price):

    Secrets Capri: $3,325.98
    Secrets Maroma: $5,125.98
    Valentine Imperial: $3,485.98
    Iberostar Grand Hotel Parasio: $4,785.98

  • Sure, if you want to pm me I will check! I tried clearing my cookies but the rates are a but closer to Hz8s when I'm looking at expedia and orbitz. I've used expedia and orbitz a bunch of times in the past so I'm looking at the correct price. Air right now seems to be a lot. Afraid to wait and afraid to pull the trigger!
