Jersey City Hair and Makeup

Hi everyone! We're having our engagement party this October in Jersey City and was looking to get my hair and makeup done for it. Does anyone have any good salon recommendation in that area? I was even thinking on using this as a test to search for hair and makeup artists for my 2013 wedding, since it will be in Jersey City as well. 

Let me know if you have any recommendations!

    I was just in a wedding over Labor Day weekend and the bride used Avanti Salon in Hoboken for hair and makeup. I have to admit that my hair didn't last but to be fair, I have very thick, heavy hair and it never stays in the style that I like. My makeup, however, was the best it's ever been done.

    My friend has her esthetician's license and works with a photographer for bridal photos. She'll be doing the makeup for my wedding next year. She uses primarily MAC makeup I believe. She is definitely priced well and is located in Bayonne, which is right next door to Jersey City so she should be able to travel to you no problem. She doesn't have a website set up yet but her name is MaryAnne Styles (yep, that's her real last name) and her email address is maryannestyles@gmail.com. You'll get a fantastic deal from her and she can provide you with pictueres of make up she has done before. She did my engagement photos and also the makeup for my mom's bridal portraits. I get my hair done by Monica at Haircutting Plus and the Day Spa in Bayonne. She does a great job and I've been going to her for 12 years. Not sure if you want to go out of Jersey City for hair, but I love it and keep going back. Hope this helps!

    I'm honestly not sure of the rates because my girlfriend (the bride) paid for our hair and makeup as a thank you gift.

    I used Ricky's Revolver Salon in Hoboken for my wedding. I can't say enough good things about them. My hair and makeup stayed perfect for the entire 16 hours.  My wedding day look was only $100 which is dirt cheap compared to others in the area.

    Thanks for the advice, everyone! I think I'm looking for someone who can do both makeup and hair, so I might look into the salons and spas everyone suggested. Bayonne and Hoboken wouldn't be a bad drive at all.
