We got engaged last Sunday - we ran the San Diego Rock & Roll Half marathon together... about 10 minutes after we finished, we found a non-crowded area to stretch... he got on a knee, but was definitely not stretching.. he had the ring with him the whole morning during the run!  It was so wonderful - SO unexpected.. I'm overly observant and an over-planner, so he did a great job catching me off guard with that huge surprise.  We're looking to get married December 29, 2012... likely in Coral Gables, FL.  So excited to be here!!

    Welcome! Some quick advice... vendors book up really fast in December due to Christmas parties so I would look at a venue and caterer asap.
    Other than that... that's so cool that he proposed after a run! We do half marathons and fulls, and I would LOVE that proposal!

    Welcome and congrats on your engagement -- love your story!  I second cwaggoner in terms of getting your venue, caterer, and photographer booked STAT.  A lot of places will book at least a year out, and December (especially towards the New Year) I would think would be a very busy time for events.

    Oh, also worth mentioning that I am having a seven month engagement, and that included 2 months of 80 hour work weeks (I work in tax). It can be done, but I booked all of my major vendors in the first month, and I did suffer some disappointment by not getting my top choice of photographer since he was booked.

    Thank you guys so much!  I am glad to see this bit of advice  ... I have of course been thinking about every last thing this past week, lots of time spent discussing plans w/ my sweetie - wondered if I needed to slow down!.  We have the chapel held, and reception site is available - I have an email and VM into the coordinator, but just today we decided to lock in.. I'm sure she's busy w/ a June wedding today!  Hopefully can get that set in next couple of days.  They were great to send an "approved vendor" list - awesome to have 3-6 choices of cake, DJ, photog, etc. all on one document - will make it easy to choose.  Will pick my faves this weekend - hopefully can lock in asap.  Yay for being a bride!  Best time of my life.. just in this past 5-6 days!!!
