where did you find your wedding dress?

I'm on the hunt for my wedding dress still. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to go?

I bought mine at Lulu's.  It was a GREAT experience for the bridal gown.  I bought bridesmaid dresses there, too.  Had a few issues (story in bio) but it turned out OK and I loved my dress experience.  I also tried on dresses at Mii's, Terry Costa, and Alfred Angelo.  Mii's was an excellent experience, but they were a little pushy when we didn't buy and wouldn't give us style numbers of the dresses when we left.  Terry Costa had a great selection, but the service wasn't great (I had to get in and out of several dresses on my own).  I think that's because there was a trunk show was going on, though.  When we went back for bridesmaid dresses, the service was excellent.  GL!

LuLu's also.... I did have a pretty good experience except they ordered my dress TOO SHORT!! I am 5'1 so my consultant ordered it in a petite size and took off more but didnt take my xlarge pettycoat into account so it ended up being 2 in too short. I was upset but by the time I got it I just dealed with it. Luckily I hadnt bought shoes yet so i just had to by really short heels(not what I wanted but oh well)

Good service though and overall im happy with my dress experience. They dont go by appts so suggest getting there early.

I've been shopping at David's in Lewisville, Alfred Angelo in Frisco, Lewisville Bridal Boutique, Lasting Bridal Couture in Addison and Denton Bridal Co.  Found a dress I love at Lewisville Bridal Boutique, but found out I can get the same dress at Denton Bridal Co for $150 less, so I'll be ordering it from there next month.

Terry Costa--loved em. Wait for the trunk show of your designer to get 20% off. Totally worth it.

CJand ML - I called and asked at Lewisville... at first the tag said $799, when I called and said that several places in the metroplex will let me order it at the manufacture price of $620, they said they could only go as low as $699.  Denton Bridal Co will order it at the manufacture price with a 10% discount.

David's Bridal - but I have an "in" as my sister works there part-time.  Not sure why there are so many horror stories about DB - I had an excellent experience, but my sister did get to hand-pick our consultant.

Yep! I felt a little bad because the consultant that helped me try on dresses was so sweet, but that sayings was too big to not go elsewhere.

Anonymously Yours.  It's a consignment shop in north Dallas.  I lucked out, my dress had never been worn.

I also lucked out at Anonymously Yours. If you are a size 6 or 8 (size 10 in wedding gowns), you will be able to find dozens of sample gowns. They do have other sizes as well, but that range seems to have the most selection. Anonymously Yours carries only high end samples and consignments in current styles (no more than 2 years old).

According to the shop and Becky Fowler, the alterations guru, my dress was worth about $5000. I paid $750.

I actually bought mine from a Knottie.  A Maggie Sottero, brand new, tags still on, cert from designer....paid her $500 and walked away with the dress.  It was originally 1200, before tax.

I can't believe i get to FINALLY wear it in less than a MONTH!!!!!

I bought mine at Stardust Celebrations in Plano (LuLu's big sister store) I have LOVESD all of my experiences there so far (Marianne, my consultant, is AWESOME).  They also have an off the rack store now in Willowbend that's open Friday-Sunday.  I've also heard that Circle Park Bridal in Addisson (also off the rack) is great.  I've heard they have great prices on veils there too!

We actually ended up ordering mine online... It turned out to be a mess. But we went to a alterations person in Lubbock that didn't really fix it how I wanted it. Right before the wedding I went to a lady in Casa Linda (east Dallas). She cut it up and redid the dress and it was wonderful! I still spent less money than if I purchased it at a store, but I had like 5 fittings and a lot of stress!

I would get mine online again, since I had over 10 months to get it all fixed. But you just never know what you are going to get.

Hi ladies! I'm new to your board (and to Texas). So far I'm enjoying both.:),

I'm usually over on the DW board (getting married in Mexico), but I'd love your help with some of the local stuff, especially for a new girl in town.

Thanks for posting all of your stores! You've really opened my eyes to places I didn't even know existed.

For those of you that bought your dress at Mii's, did any of you have your gowns custom made there?

My mom is flying out to Texas to go dress shopping with me on Easter weekend. Like all of you, I've been scouring the Internet looking for dresses I like. I LOVE Jim Hjelm so I planned on going to Stardust Celebrations. I also planned on making a trip to Lulu's, David's Bridal, and possibly Priscilla of Boston and now Mii's.

Any places you think I'd be missing out on? Thanks ladies! Looking forward to meeting you all.
