Do I need a travel agent?

Hi! I'm working on booking our honeymoon and we are using frequent flyer miles to get us to Cancun (for free! wohoo!). I've received many recommendations for all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and like what I see! At this point,  do you think I need to get a travel agent if we kind of already have things figured out? Do they provide special deals or something? I've never worked with a TA before so I'm not exactly sure if they are necessary with out of the country travels.
Thanks!

Re: Do I need a travel agent?

  • Seems like you have it all figured out, especially since you are using frequent flyer miles I would say no.  I haven't used a travel agent in years but the only time I think I may consider it is when we visit several countries in Europe so they can help with the travel between countries.
  • Claudia Taylor (AAA - Shawnee, KS) has been wonderful.  There are deals that we can't sometimes see that they can.  And the kicker for me is the travel insurance opportunity.  I'm not chancing the unknown with our honeymoon.  It's not just a weekend getaway.

    I recommend her.

  • I used Jackie at All About Honeymoons. It's free and can be done all online if you wish. She gave us some great ideas. We ended up finding a place on our own, but she was very informative and helped answer a lot of questions. You tell them how much you want to spend, how long, activities/amenities you want...etc and they'll tell you some places.
