Reception venues that allow self-catering?

Hi all!

I'm looking for a venue for my Jan. 2013 wedding that actually allows self-catering. I'm particularly interested in a hotel venue but it seems that al of them require that you use their catering services. Any recommendations???

Thanks!

Re: Reception venues that allow self-catering?

  • How many guests do you have?  I know of a small house/park setting but it can really only comfortable fit 50-60 people.  Also, were you looking for a specific part of South Florida?

  • Welcome! Unfortunately, I don't think you will find a hotel that will let you bring in your own catering. :( Off the top of my head, Old School Square in Delray Beach allows your own catering I believe. Let us know what county you want your reception in and hopefully we can help more!

  • Long Key Nature Center! Beautiful venue!

  • Shane center on Miami Beach Anne Kolb Nature Center in Hollywood Stranahan House in Ft Lauderdale
  • Many hotels will allow this for kosher or ethnic weddings.  Check out:  Fountainbleau, Lowes, Colonnade, Biltmore, Trump Towers.
  • I am looking at some private homes/ mini mansions in palm beach county. I can bring my own food, liquor vendors etc. I'm waiting on an email from my planner with a few more options. I can send you the info if it's something you would be interested in.

  • It would be good to include the county, wouldn't it? Lol Tongue Out

The ceremony will be in Miami, so Dade county is preferable. I was looking in the Miami Beach, Coral Gables area but Fort Lauderdale is OK (I'm trying to keep an open mind for now since we're in the early phases).

Thank you all for the suggestions thus far!! Keep em coming!
  • Oh and for guests we're thinking 250, 300 (I know: a lot!!)
  • Marriot on Biscayne Blvd allows outside catering and will EASILY accommodate your size wedding.

  • The Westin on Ft. Lauderdale Beach is allowing us to bring in an outside kosher caterer (we do have to pay a kitchen fee). I know its Ft. Lauderdale, but they should be able to accomodate your guests. A friend mentioned the Miami Beach Resort and Spa might, but I didn't look into myself. The Newport Beach Resort is in Dade and did allow outside caterers too. Ninac already mentioned the others I am aware of.
  • I know its not a hotel setting but the Douglas Enterence in Coral Gables allows out side catering. Also the Coral Gables women club and Coconut grove women club.

  • A bit further north than you wanted, but the Spanish River Library in Boca has plenty of space to accomodate your guests, is not expensive to rent, and allows self-catering!
  • Hi,

I catered my own wedding and I would like to offer a friendly advice. Please, please go and check your venues kitchen before you book the venue (if you are using their kitchen for anything). Kitchen in our venue (Sandhills Farm in Jupiter) was disaster! It was dirty, had dogs running around, handymen and other people walking around, it was hot and fridge was room temp and nasty (and  small). We were force to use it as we arrive in Fla just week before wedding and I just trusted owners word (big mistake). Luckily we are kitchen professionals and found the way to keep our food safe!

Try the Spanish Monastery in North Miami Beach.  We just had my daughter's wedding there this weekend and everyone talked about what a magical place this is! It is actually the oldest building in the Western Hemisphere which everyone seemed to be fascinated by. You have to bring in your own caterer qne our caterer said their kitchen is great.
We had close to 200 people and it was very comfortable.  We had cocktail hour in the beautiful garden and then dinner in The Cloisters which surrounded a courtyard which is where we danced.  It was perfect.  They will  rent you chairs and tables. We rented the tables from them, but went elsewhere for Chiavarry chairs. I think they have a max capacity of 350 so it should work.
