Save the dates

Hello ladies :) We have started to look into more wedding stuff and I am finally looking at etiquette and all the fun stuff that goes into planning a wedding. When you send out the save the dates ( I know that it is 6-9 mths before the wedding), but what do you send with them? For my friends I've gotten their registry stuff, hotel info(for a beach wedding), and where & when? Does that sound right??

Re: Save the dates

  • We're doing simple Save the Dates that just have our names, the date, the location and then a link to our website (which has all the registry, hotel information).  That way it's not in your face and if people want more information, they can go and get it.

  • Yours does sound right. Mine is a couple posts down, but we did a very simple one with our names, date and location. That's it. I plan on mailing them out around Thanksgiving.

<div>Since you mentioned it, etiquette-wise you never put anything about gifts on/in an invite (including "No gifts" if thats your preferece).  Some people obviously choose to include it anyways.</div><div>
    </div><div>Are you doing a wedding website?</div><div>
</div><div>Personally I plan on having the <strong>date, the city</strong> (in case people need to make travel arrangements) and our <strong>wedding website</strong> URL.  The website will have all pertinent details (such as hotel blocks, if any, information about the city for people who are staying longer, registry info if anyone should want it, etc.), maybe some cute *us* stories & pictures for eye candy + fluff.  By just sticking to a basic URL as additional info, we're not locked into anything besides a date and a city if something should change.</div>

  • Same with PP. Will only have name, pic, date, website. Wedding website will have registry information only. Most guest will ask you or your mom...

  • I have not done my save the dates yet, but they are going to be very simply and I'm going to go ahead and get my guests used to be being directed to our wedding webiste via the knot by placing the link on there, this is also where I want them to RSVP too. That can help save a lot of space if you want them to know all of the information (hotel, registry, etc.) by including the link to your wedding website. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone!!! I think that I am just going to put our wedding website on them and then have everything they will need for travel on the site and then if they want to find our registry they can ask my mom or put it on our site.
