Things changed!

I went home after my classes yesterday and drove back this morning, so I got to spend some time with my mom, FI's mom and the wedding planner.

I was sitting with FI's mom and waiting for my mom to get there and we started talking about what FI and I actually want. FI's mom was concerned that even though my mom was saying, "We want what Sarah wants" that it wasn't actually happening.

There's been a fairly large drama about the time of the ceremony and how the colors I chose (wine red, black and white) dictate that. My mom and the wedding planner had pretty much forced me into an evening, indoor wedding even though FI and I have always wanted a late-morning outdoor wedding. When I told FMIL about this, she kind of freaked out and when my mom arrived she put her foot down and wouldn't let it go until my mom agreed to call the wedding planner so we could all talk about it.

I ended up getting my way. We're having a mid-morning, outside wedding. I did change my colors, but because the only thing that's been done in the wine red is Save the Dates, it's not that big of a deal.

I'm soooo relieved!

light pink and black sound beautiful!! If I hadn't fallen in love with Horizon at David's Bridal then I would have done black, white, and pink.

Sounds like things have worked out for the better!  It's hard sometimes, especially for moms with their daughters, and your mom sounds like she has realized that she wasn't letting your ideas influence the wedding, at least until now.  Praise the Lord for the compromises that you guys can make.  I don't like the phrase "it's your day" but you and your FI are the ones getting married, and it's important for our moms to take into consideration what you guys want too!  :-)  Celebrate the successes.  I'm betting if you give your mom something she really wants as part of the wedding day, it would be pretty awesome for her, if you can find something appropriate for that, something that wouldn't totally screw up your ideas for the day.
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!
