Would/Have you gotten a second job specificially for saving up money toward your wedding, or in the very least to get a discount on WR stuff?

My second job at LB is pretty much for that reason, and also to make ends meet a little easier in general. Since I've started there, my closet's expanded quite a bit and I've already gotten a couple things specifically for the big day.

I've been contemplating it. I had 3 jobs all throughout college and it's kinda nice to just have one job right now but if it needs to happen I might do it. Especially with holiday season coming up I may do it then just to get more money.

It's funny that you ask this question today! I've been contemplating my situation the last few days.

I'm working two jobs right now and at my part time job, I get paid less than half of what I make at my full time job, so to me, it doesn't even seem worth my time. The discount is nice but they've been scheduling me outside of my availability and it's just becoming a huge headache. I might just quit my part time job (especially with the holidays coming up, hello 10 hour black friday shift), and work a few more hours at my fulltime job. Thats really all it would take to make up the difference.

my etsy shop is for the sole purpose of paying for the wedding. (well, not the whole thing, but contributing to the wedding)

Soo funny to ask this question. FI and I JUST got off the phone about this. He called me and said some tow truck company is hiring and he wants to work there part time solely to pay off our wedding and honeymoon. I told him to go for it, I would be sad cuz with his two jobs, that means he would be gone from 6am-1130pm but yu do what yu have to.

I actually am working less now that we're in wedding planning stage. I have a full-time desk job, and that is enough to live on. For the past 4 years I've driven a horse carriage part-time in Minneapolis on the weekends. I decided that with all the stuff I've had going on this summer, I didn't want to be tied down to that. So, now I only work the 2nd job on an on-call basis, and tomorrow will be the first time I've worked all summer. Coincidentally, I'm driving carriage for 2 weddings tomorrow. It'll be nice, because it'll give me a chance to see how others incorporate the carriage. I"m going to have one at my wedding...one perk of the job.

I work a full time job and two part time ones from home and FI does side jobs too add to our funds.

It's something I have been considering would help us save for wedding but Fi and even my dad doesn't think I should. I'm up in the air I'm so used to school and work now that I'm done with school I feel like other than the gym I might be to bored. Once fall starts I'll see how I feel part time twice a week and weekends don't seem to bad we shall see.

I have a full time job but I also sell Partylite. I love having the flexibility of a home business and being able to work when and how I want too.

For those of you considering a 2nd job, I would consider something like that.

I go to school full time so i'm only working part time, I wish I could have another job on top of that or at least be working full time. It just seems like there isn't enough time in nursing school. FI's has picked up extra hours at work to contribute to the wedding. Other than that, we are using our savings plus my parents gave us money (which we are very thankful to them for their generosity).

FI is wanting to leave his current job, but nobody's getting back to him about anything :-( Depending on what he gets, he may need a second job too.

I do schooling online (which takes up more time than one may think) and I work full time as a nanny. I babysit about every other week for another family and I just put all that money away specifically for the wedding. FI just got a new job as well and is getting so much overtime that his first paycheck today was almost double what his paychecks were at his old job! So that'll help too.

I am in school full time and workfull time so I really dont have any extra time to work a 2nd job although it has crossed my mind a time or two

Considering taking on a PT/PRN position at another hospital 1-2 days a week, so we'll see once all these down-payments start needing to get paid! FI is starting to teach as an adjunct professor for a local PA program which will supplement nicely.

I want a second job but FI doesn't think it's a good idea. I work FT and have a daughter so my time is pretty much limited.

Nope. We are very comfortable financially. When offered FI does take overtime and that goes directly into savings.

Thats a little crazy for me! I own my own business and work my butt off already. Besides, I don't care enough about a wedding to get a whole seperate job. If I couldn't afford a wedding, I'd just elope. It's just one day, for goodness sake.
