The fact that OU/Texas is upon us all again.  One of the best riviaries in college football history. The severe hatred from both teams makes it a lot of fun.

I will be going down to Texas on Thursday, but I will also be flying out Friday morning to GO VISIT MY FI! I sold my OU/Texas ticket for a nice profit and had enough to pay for most of my ticket. So it is enough motivation for me to get through this week to go visit him. =D

Random sidenote - did you know you can't take a hand held mixer on airplanes? I didn't! I promised to make him my mildly famous cookies when I went o see him...but typical bachelor pad didn't have any cooking equipment...so.. I'm thinking, I'll just take my own. After a nagging feeling I googled it..and apparently it is too much like a weapon to take on to the plane. (well you can check it, but I refuse to pay $25 to check my little bag)

You can probably buy a cheap mixer when you get down there for less than the $25 to check your bag.  Plus then he'll have it to use again!

The only thing getting me through this week is that I leave for Costa Rica on Saturday for a week's vacation with my family.  I get to see my parents, brother, and my brother's girlfriend for the whole week (yes, and FI, too).  It's the only time for the rest of this year that we'll all be in the same place.  To be honest, it's probably the only time until the wedding that we'll all be in the same place.  It's a really nice treat!

C- Wow Costa Rica.  We were going to take our girls trip there a few years ago and then the stupid pilots went on strike and the airline locked the manifest so the only way we could get another flight was pay crazy prices since they did that to us less than 12hrs before we got on a plane.  Color me jealous.  I will make it to Costa Rica one day!

I am getting through this week by knowing that on Friday I am headed out town with some girls and we are going to see New Orleans play!  YAY!!!

    Envious of Costa Rica.
I'm pretty pouty and mopey today.
The only thing getting me through this week is that I have a girl date on Saturday to go to a pumpkin patch and corn maze, and then have a swanky dinner out. Definitely looking forward to that!

I'm a spoiled girl - I've been to CR twice already.  Once was in college with my parents, brother, and a family that we're very close with  - we went to an all inclusive in the Nicoya Peninsula (northwest CR) which was really fun.  Then 2.5 years ago, FI and I went on a 5 day trip with no reservations - just rented a car and drove around with a vague idea where we wanted to go geographically but nothing booked.  We had an absolute blast, honestly the best trip of my life.  That's a bit too adventurous for my parents, but I managed to convince them to rent a house and book car rentals so we can explore on our own rather than have the hand-holding of a resort (not my preferred vacation style).

I'm gonna be an AW for a second.... this is where we're staying:

3 bedroom, 3 bath house - the upstairs is a king suite, and downstairs there are two queen bedrooms.  Perfect size for us!

This is the walk to the beach from the house - only a few feet!

And this is where I will be one week from right now:

And I'm massively jealous of your girl date.  I miss fall-y things like pumpkins and corn... Miami is just the same, hotter or cooler, but generally the same all year.  And I miss going out to dinners with friends!  I have a distinct lack of good friends down here - people are really self involved and opportunisitic, so it doesn't make for good friendships.  Miami kind of sucks in general.

I have the Tough Mudder on Saturday, so that's lurking in my brain at all times.  I'm going to work out hard today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, then take Thursday and Friday off.

Calindi that aw makes me like you less.
hahahaa I'm super envious. I need my feel in the sand sooo badly... but I too love the fall more than ANYTHING so I'm happy with the cool 60 degree weather and fun pumpkin things. :) I get a little holiday crazed this time of the year.

That means you liked me a bit to start with, so I guess that's good <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cool.gif" border="0" alt="Cool" title="Cool" />  It looks like it may rain all week, which was a risk we knew when we booked in rainy season, so you might feel a bit better when I come back even less tan than I left!

The holidays might be a bit tough for me this year as I won't get to see anyone from my family - I am excited to spend both Thanksgiving and Christmas just me and FI to start our own family traditions, but I will miss my immediate family and seeing grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.  We also won't get to go up north at all, so we won't get any fall weather or snow or anything fun.  Boo!

aw boo on not getting the holiday weather! See.. That's why I don't want to live in the south. I just .. no. Nope. That doesn't fly by me.  *shakes head* Nope Nope Nope. lol
We don't know what our plans are for holidays yet. We will be with my family for Thanksgiving, since they live here... but I really want to go to see his family this Christmas.. Unfortunately with sooo many added unexpected expenses with the wedding, I don't know if we can really justify it. We want to build back up our savings account... Idk.. I don't wanna decide, so he is. But his family is huge and crazy during Christmas, which makes it so much fun :P But it drives him crazy.. I think he wants us to do Christmas alone this year.. We'll see.

Have you guys created any of your own traditions yet? :)
We have kinda molded our two stocking traditions together to create our own.. And have picked themes for our decor for different rooms.. Oh I love that man and how he puts up with me and my decorating needs hahaha
We also have started the tradition of this special cider recipe he HAS to have me make (I created it one day for fun and it has stuck with him!) while we make my family's german butter cookie recipe, and listen to great holiday music. Oh I can't wait :)

H leaves to go on a 2 month det today!! I'm super excited for him because it gets him off of his base for a while!! Plus they get to stay in a 5 star hotel for the entire time and the per diem rate is incredible!!  I also have a meeting this afternoon about a scholarship! Yay!!  And I get to wear my cute new shoes from Husby!

I made persimmon pudding earlier today, it was the first time I've ever made it, and it didn't turn out too bad.  Getting all the pulp was a serious PITA, but now I feel like it's officially fall!!

FTL - we're working on our own traditions.  We've done Thanksgiving a few times now in our own home, so we have that down - he makes amazing cranberry sauce, I make the turkey and mashed potatoes.  We're still working on perfecting a stuffing recipe, though I've got some ideas for this year!  Last year we ran the 5k Turkey Trot in the morning, and I think we're going to keep doing that every year.  We really liked that a lot!

For Christmas, we haven't had that holiday on our own ever.  It's always been with my parents for Christmas Eve, and driving up to visit his on Christmas Day.  I think it'll be hard for both of us.  He's going to go up for a week before Christmas to be with his family as he has it off school anyway.  We do have some ornaments - we're starting a tradition of getting ornaments in each place we visit together.  We have a gorgeous one from Munich from our trip last year, so I'm excited to put that up on a tree (we didn't have one last year).  We also have stockings from our very first Christmas, when we had only been dating 2 months.  Mine says, "Naughty" on one side and "Nice" on the other.  His says "Dear Santa, I've been good" and on the other "Dear Santa, I can explain".  Cracks me up every time!  He also loves gluwein, so we make that and it puts us  in the holiday spirit!

I'm excited because my Mom is coming down to MS this weekend and it's her birthday! We normally go much longer without seeing her, because she only comes South every 4-5 months or so, but since I was living up there it's only been about 2. Still excited. Also, fingers crossed, she's bringing her adorable dog, too.

It's gotten pretty chilly (for Northern FL) here, in the low 50s at night and just hitting 80s in the day. It's starting to smell like Fall. I do miss the Utah weather for fall and winter, I know I'm going to miss the snow. FI and I have been having the "what do we do for the holidays?" talk this week. Nothing's decided yet, but he really wants to use some vacation time and go to Disney after Christmas, so, we'll see.

The only thing getting me through this week is knowing FI will be home this week!
He was technically supposed to be home already, but we all know how that goes.
I'm 0/2 on him coming back from a deployment on time haha

He also completely changed our honeymoon plans and totally surprised me on Monday! He booked everything and made a powerpoint of our 9 day itinerary, which totally cracked me up. So I'm ridiculously excited for that!

I wish my H would surprise me with such, but that's just not realistic.. It's really annoying to know that we have the money sitting in our money market fund saying, "speeend mee!!! take a vaca to Aruba!!!"  and we can't. oi.  :P

If only he was that organized with every other aspect of life haha but I'll take what I can get :P
But doing something like that is totally him, once he gets excited about something he runs with it.

Btw, I am totally in love with your signature pic, it makes me so excited for my wedding! Sometimes I wish FI would have wanted to wear his blues but that was never an option in his mind lol
