DJ LED lighting cost for reception hall

After going back and forth, I decided I want to get LED lighthing for the reception hall from the DJ. My backdrop will be lighted with LED lighthing provided by my decorator, but I dont have any LED for the hall so been contemplating that but its mainly the price of lighting(as quoted by my DJ) the hall that makes me not want to get it. There are certain things that I have divided with my dad and am paying for,for the wedding and wont ask him a penny for it, makes me feel good that am contributing.
So my DJ said the price is negoitable and he can work with me, so my question is how much is your DJ charging you for lighting only?, if you can find out please let me know so I can have something to compare to!

Our DJ offers the lighting per uplight, I think it's like 20$ per, and so it depends on how far you want them spaced and how big your room is...I've contemplated this. Our room is pretty as it is, but the photographer said it looks nice in the pictures, otherwise it looks like a dark cavern. I am so torn!

We got lighting through a lighting company.  The DJ only had two LED light balls that went with the music.  It was pretty reasonable - we did LED uplights.  I can provide more info if you are interested - they also change the colors for the first dance, and for speeches etc.

I'm doing LED up lighting through my DJ as well. We have a big hall and he's going to put up 20-40. They're color changing that he can control to go w/the theme and music which are more expensive. That alone is going to cost me 850$. I was debating if it was worth it, and for me it is b/c this is really what's going to set the mood. My total DJ cost for baraat, wedding, and reception is 2000. Not sure if that's outrageous or not, but this DJ had so many positive recs that I felt very comfortable with him. Hope this helps & good luck!

$2000 for total cost is not bad at all!! is your lighting included in that cost????? if so I think my DJ is charging more

    Hi Jinsaini

Sadly no, lol. I was hoping it was, but it's an extra 850$ on top of the 2K. He did originally quote me 400$ more, but I talked to him and we cut down the cost a bit. My wedding is also taking place in Atlanta,  which could be why it's cheaper. I'm glad to hear that I wasn't ripped off DJ cost wise though. I'm Punjabi and he's a "young hip" Punjabi DJ in the area that does club events and Indian social events, so I trust him regardless if I'm paying a bit more than what I wanted to. Maybe if you talk to your DJ he'll cut down the prices? I always feel slightly bad negotiating, but I know that when vendors hear wedding they tack on extra costs.

Without our lighting, we are at 1710. But that's because we're not having music during the baraat...I know it seems weird, but it would be even weirder with it since my groom isn't Indian and not a dancer/showy/out going type. If we want to add it back in, its $200, which is reasonable I guess...

So the total is for ceremony + cocktail hour + reception. We get a dholi for an hour of the reception, which is kind of fun, too.

Rsharma3- That helps a lot..thank you!!! Now I know how much to negotiate with him, I hate it too but I think I really need to at this point because he seems willing to add the lighting.

Raangoli-Yea it makes sense, my BIL is german and my sis didnt get music for barat and got it for reception and a dholi like you.I got the music for the barat and reception+a dholi, now trying to work out the lighting.

Will let you girls know how much it ends up around about. Thanks for the numbers!!

Quality uplighting for a large hall for 350 ppl usually runs $1000.00- 1500.00. Please check with your DJ or lighting vendor to make sure they are LED professional uplights..

I agree, I went with a professional lighting company, over what the DJ could provide, because the DJ was scaled down, and the lighting company knew their trade of lighting, timing, and equipment!!
