SO ANNOYED (vent)

I just got an email today from our venue saying that they're sorry, but we need to reschedule our rehearsal! It did say in the contract that if they book a wedding for the day of the the rehearsal, then we would have to change, but I thought I would be safe this close to the wedding!!! All of my family and out of town bridesmaids have already bought their plane tickets to get here either Wedinesday night or Thursday morning and our rehearsal was supposed to be on Thursday night! We had booked a restaurant near the venue (on the complete opposite side of town) for the rehearsal dinner afterwards too. Now, we either have to not have one, or have one on an earlier day with hardly anyone there and a rehearsal dinner on a completely different night. I know that it warned us in the contract, but its still just super disappointing and I'm really bummed about it! Any advice??

  • Are you able to have the rehearsal earlier on thursday and dinner same place same time? Or maybe have the rehearsal & dinner Friday since your wedding is Saturday?

  • Ughh, that's such a bummer! I had to deal with rehearsal issues to a few months ago too, so I feel your pain.

My advice, can you do the rehearsal earlier in the day after your Thursday guests arrive? If your wedding is on Saturday, can you do your rehearsal Friday morning or afternoon before they set up for the other event. You'd have to change your dinner plans to lunch and maybe even a new location, but it's better than not having everyone there in my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

My venue told me they wouldn't give me a rehearsal date until a couple weeks before the wedding. That was NOT okay with me. I needed to know for OOTs and especially my OOT grandfather/officiant when they needed to be in town. I'm getting married on a Friday and really wanted the rehearsal Thursday in order to cater to my OOT guests. They have an all day event, so that wasn't going to work. I made her reserve Wednesday for me because I needed a day as close to the wedding as possible. I didn't want people to have to come here sooner than planned just for the rehearsal. She obliged, but was a total pain in the process.

  • I'm a little ticked off about my rehearsal as well. My venue woun't give me a date until 2 weeks before but the restaurant is already booked for Thursday. It was the only day we could get.  I guess if worst comes to worst we'll rehearse in the restaurant.

  • oh that is such a pain! i was suppose to call my venue after teh new year to see (i still havent) i will call them tomrrow.  like hobokenbride said-i would just rehearse at the restaurant-i have seen ti doen before (it will be fine, especially if you have your own room-bring an ipod with ur processional music and ur all set).  dont be too bummed!

  • I have the same issue as everyone else. Our venue won't guarantee the reception space until a couple of weeks before. If it doesn't work out, we'll probably use one of the meeting rooms in my office. Kind of awkward but I guess it will work! It sounds like ou either need to move it earlier in the day or just find another venue. If you live in an apartment complex maybe they have a meeting space you can use?

  • Thanks ladies! It makes me feel better to know that my venue isn't the only one being strict about the rehearsal. I think that we are really going to try to have the rehearsal either on Thursday earlier in the day or Friday afternoon. If those don't work, well we'll just take a time that they have open and deal with it. I guess the most important part to me is the dinner when everyone will be in town and had planned on coming. I don't think we're going to change the time or place of the restaurant regardless.
