Hollywood Bridal Girls..

Did anyone buy and pick up their dress from Hollywood Bridals?  I was in last week for what I thought was my last fitting, and I called today to let them know when I was going to pick up my dress.  I was surprised that she gave me an appointment and said I'll try the dress on and if it fits I can take it home (picking it up two days before the wedding).

Not that it's a big deal, I just didn't think I'd be trying the dress on again, and I want to make sure that she didn't misunderstand me and thought I wanted a fitting.  So, just curious if this is standard that you try it on when it's all steamed and pretty and ready to go!

I picked my gown up from Hollywood Bridal last night and did exactly what you described. I went in, the gown was already steamed and I tried it on for a final OK, they bagged it up and I took it home. I know they specifically give you an appointment so the gown is steamed and ready for you when you arrive. They also suggest taking the gown out of the bag once you get home and letting the train down but I'm unable as we live together. For transport I laid the gown across the back seat of my car without any problems.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I actually had my aunt pick my dress up from Hollywood for me on the morning of the wedding....
so that *final* final fitting is not a requirement.
I am sure they'd be fine if you politely declined trying it on, and just asked if you could pick it up as is.

Question for you HB ladies - do they still do free alterations for gowns, how about bridesmaids dresses? They did when my sister had her wedding and I was wondering if that was still the case as that was like 8 years ago. Thanks!

Both for BM and gowns the alterations are included. I think the only additional item is if you want cups and that's $15.

Thanks Sherri! I may need to price shop with them then. I found a dress I think might be the one I want at Park Ave Bridal, but they charge for alterations and the cap is $225, that's pretty night IMO. And I know from the experience from my sis's wedding the Hollywood really does a wonderful job with alterations (and they ordered a gown for her that they didn't have in the store so that's a plus too in case they don't have the same gown there they may still be able to get it for me).

They also charge $75 for the bustle on bridal gowns

Thanks everyone!  I guess I'll try it on since my mom will be there so she can see it (and see how to bustle it).

I am ordering my bridesmaid dresses from Hollywood..I went in with my girls last week and they were great. I did not go there for my dress ( went to Bridals by Roma) and wish I did because it was $400!!! less at Hollywood then Roma's.

Question- Do you guys think I should bring this price difference up with Roma's $100 I can understand...but a $400 difference I find alittle crazy...suggestions?

Nikki - I don't think it could hurt to try, but I doubt they'll do anything.  Although you may be able to get them to throw in a piece of jewelry or something for free or at a discounted price if you plead your case well enough.
