Just wanted to say Hi...

I'm getting married June 2012 at Loulu Palms on Oahu and must say this board is very informative...so thank you...

Just wanted to know though, are a lot of the vendors really slow at responding?  I'm a lil frustrated as I booked Loulu around 1st of July, but so far that's the only thing I've secured...just wanted to get a lot of the big things checked off, but no luck so far.

    Welcome to the board, I hope you stick around.

    Everyone here will tell you that the vendors on Hawaii are much slower to respond than on the mainlaind. I've been lucky with some who are more responsive than others who post on these boards, but even I've had to pick up the phone because of an ignored email.

    Welcome! 

    Some vendors can be slow to respond, but not all. I selected many of my vendors because not only did I get a good vibe for them and the price was right, but also because I felt they were responsive to my questions. I presonally just wouldn't be comfortable conducting business that way. I would pick a few vendors to contact at a time to get a feel for people and if I didn't hear back I would move on to my next favorites.

    Welcome to the board! And good luck on all the planning. My vendors are pretty good at responding but yes they're on island time so I give them 2-3 days to respond. Also it's pretty busy right now in Hawaii - it's their wedding season, so I think things are even slower right now.

    Welcome!  Ditto the advice of the other gals.  I've found that phone is always much more effective than email if you're in need of an immediate response.

    And just one thing of note-- my coordinator was SUPER responsive towards the beginning when knocking out all of the details, I got a response same-day every time. Then as we got closer he was less responsive-- but still responded within a week. Now that we're actually coming up to the wedding, he's back to the quick responsiveness again.

    Congratulations and welcome to the board!    I remember this time of the year being very busy as our WC used to have an "out of the office" response which we loved because it told when she had events, when we could expect a response, etc.    She would send just a quick note to let us know that she was working on things, but because the vendors were also busy it took her longer than usual to get a response from them too.

    How exciting to have nailed down the venue! I find wedding planners tend to take a little longer to reply (I'm sure they get more emails than any other vendor). My photographer must have fingers as fast as lightning. She always replies so fast. Makes me happy, because I hate talking on the phone. Can't wait to hear more about your wedding as it takes shape!
