small wedding & seating

is anyone not doing a escort card table and just putting the cards right on the table?
we have 6 tables i cannot imagine it'd be that hard to find their seat. i def. want assign seating, just want to cut out an extra project if i can :)

Re: small wedding & seating

  • I'm also having a small wedding, but I'm doing the escort card table. Still, I think with 6 tables you can get away with putting the cards on the table. Will they be at each individual seat/place setting? Or just cards lined up in the center of each table? If the cards are at each place setting, and the writing is big enough to read without having to lean over the whole setting, I say go for it! Nothing like a time-saver.
  • I think it would be pretty easy for guests to go around to 6 tables looking for their escort card. Do you have a lot of older folks where this task might be tricky? Just make up a word document indicating which tables guests are sitting at and put it on a fancy piece of cardboard or something.

  • I was at a wedding a few weeks ago with well over 100 people that did this.  I think someone was walking around with an alphabetical list of where your seats were, but I never saw it.  My friend just walked up to me and said "you and Greg are at our table over there."

I think it will be fine.  I like PP idea to print something off in word on pretty paper.  Maybe you could frame it.  Should take only a few minutes.
  • We have 122 guest and just plan on putting the escort card at their table, and the'll just walk untill they find their name. At this point with 12 days left the less on my to-do list the better! :)
  • We are only having 30 guests, so I decided to do just place cards. Because we have such a small amount of people, we are also doing family style seating, so one long table. I figure people will be able to find their seats, and I wanted to assign seats with this configuration.
  • Do you have meal preferences listed on the escort cards? If not, maybe just make a seating chart? Thats what we are doing, a list of who is at each table is glued onto the big seating chard and then the list of each table is also on the back of the table card (we are doing names instead of numbers, so one side of the card has the name and the other the list of who is at that table), if you dont need escort cards(for meals) i think this might be easier/quicker.

if you want to cut costs, just do escort cards and not placecards. :) I wouldn't want to walk around all the tables trying to figure out which seat I was assigned to.

That's what we did - we have 9 tables and are only doing escort cards (a verison of a seating chart)
