Magnolia Planttion?

Has anyone been here or having their wedidng here? The prices are very reasonable so I was curious on the food and service.

I actually just booked them for my reception.  I looked around at other places, but everything was so expensive, and I hated the idea of making my guests pay to park in the city.  Ms. Sue over at Magnolia Plantation totally sold me--she is amazing!  I read great reviews about the food, and you CANNOT beat the gorgeous venue and amount of service you get for the price.

I went to a wedding there recently and it was a very nice venue.  I'm looking into having my reception there myself.  The food was great, not as much of a variety as some other places (i.e. Southern Oaks and The Balcony), but there was definitely plenty of variety for me and was all really good.  Service was good, never had to wait more than a minute or 2 at the bar because there were 2 bartenders.  And at the tables, I didn't have an empty plate before servers brought around more of something or something different.  It was a very good overall experience...up there with weddings I've been to where cost was 50-60+ per head.  Do y'all mind me asking about prices?  I haven't had a chance to call them yet (I work nights and am very rarely awake during regular business hours).  TIA

Thanks for reviewing the food!  Southern Oaks has a lot more food options, but it's not buffet style--the servers bring around everything.  At Magnolia Plantation, it's buffet plus pass-around hors d'euvres (my family's a buffet kind of group, so it was important when my FH and I were reception-hall shopping).  Plus, I can't say this enough, Ms. Sue has been amazing since I first called for quotes!  I'd definitely look into having your reception there.

The way it works -- the ballroom is split into two sections, min. 100 guests.  If you have 250+ guests, then you can book the entire ballroom.  Just a heads up.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks so much sammyjames.  that's so affordable compared to so many other places, especially with all the taxes and service charges included!  Does that include the bar or the cake?

Oh nevermind, I was able to find lots of info on the website!  Thanks!

Yeah, their website is great!  The price includes a cake allowance.  Before, it used to be that you could either go to Swiss or Haydel's (it's nice that they give you a choice, instead of pigeon-holing you into one, like some places), but I think they're changing it so you can take your money and get a cake anywhere you want, which is even better!

And yup, unlimited food and drink.  I'm so psyched for the reception.  Call them and ask them to email you the packet.  I think it had some extra info that the website didn't, like menu info and whatnot.

    Good luck!
