CHEAP "Ceremony Only" Venue

So, I've only been engaged for a month & I'm already overwhelmed...  My fiancé & I are on a VERY limited budget.  We have $2,000 in hand & are trying to save an additional $1,500 - $2,000.  Our whole wedding & reception will need to fit in to this budget.  We are expecting around 150 guests.  The math doesn't add up.

Fortunately, we may have a free reception venue in the Design Distric .  We'll still need to pay for food.  We are trying to find a "Ceremony Only" venue that's not too far from there.  We will only need the area for about 60 - 90 minutes.  It doesn't have to be fancy.  It can be indoors or outdoors.

We're wanting to get married on a Saturday in May, but would consider a Sunday wedding if it were on 05/27/2012 (Memorial Day Weekend).  I'm probably leaving out important details, but this is all I can think of right now.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you!!

    Design District?

Is that Ft Worth or Dallas?

Dallas.  It's off 35E just north of down town.

The Dallas Heritage Village is near there and they charge 400-600$ depending on the space that you use (they have multiple) and that includes rehearsal time, chairs, and parking. They do not charge extra to bring in your own officiant.

OP, could you not have your reception and ceremony in the same place? Sometimes this can be a huge cost-saver even if it isn't the location of your dreams. You can do a lot of neat things to spruce up a place too (draping, diy backdrops, etc.).

We would be glad to have the ceremony & reception in the same location if it doesn't increase the price.  We're currently (possibly) getting a free reception area.

I think what she's asking is, if you're getting the reception location for free, why not also try to have your ceremony at that place?

Ahhhh...  Now I get it.  It's certainly something to consider.  I'm not really sure why we hadn't considered it to begin with.  It's definitely not our dream location & it would require a set change between the ceremony & reception as it's too small to have both set up simultaneously.  That doesn't make it impossible though.  Thank you both for the idea!

</div><div>Have you considered setting up the tables with a center aisle in between them and having your guests just sit at the tables? This is not a bad option and saves a lot of time and money. You dont have to reset everything and find something for your guests to do in between. You take all of your pictures before hand so you move right into the reception!</div>

How did you score a free reception area in Dallas? I am like you and have a very limited budget!

We don't know that we have yet.  It's our church office.  Our church leases a local performing arts theater on Sunday mornings, so they don't have a chapel that we can use, but they do have a really cool office location that would be perfect.  We're waiting to hear back from them on being able to use it.
