Wedding Date--Opinions please!

Hello Knotties!! :D

Okay, after much discussion and contemplation, my FI and I chose a wedding date. We settled for a date in March 2012 because I am going to become a teacher and during that month there is spring break for elementary students and teachers. So, we chose March 2012 so that we can go on the honeymoon right after the wedding. Then suddenly I decided to look up what day my birthday fell on the following month (April 2012). It fell on a Saturday which is the day of the week we want to get married!! So, the question is: March 2012 (when there is spring break and we can go on the honeymoon right after) OR April 2012 (On my birthday, but wait on the honeymoon until June because I have to work)? Thanks so much for your help!!! Laughing

March. Personally, I wouldn't want to get married on my birthday. Why have one less day for celebration? ;)

As a teacher, I would just remind you that spring break is one week in the public school system, so you'll still need to take time off before spring break. (Do you have a job lined up already? Many FL districts are in hiring freezes, so hopefully you won't have any problems with getting a position.)

We are doing spring break and it works out nice that FI only has to take a day the week before and 2 days the week after and we can enjoy our time off.

I agree who wants 1 less celebration!

I would pick March . It doesn't rain as much, it is a little cooler and some venues have discounts for being in the "off season" . I picked march too.

Plus if you have your brithday and wedding at the same time you only get one present a year .lol jk
    Anniversary

I say go with March. I'm with Alyssa...why have 2 holidays in 1 when you can celebrate 2?! LOL.

You would then get to go to your honeymoon right after, which i think is pretty cool!

    Stick to March!

Another vote for March! I wouldn't want to have my wedding on my birthday. I am all about celebrations!

Yes, that was what my FI was saying. He said "Let your birthday be your birthday." He was going for March too. Yes, I know that spring break is only one week, but my FI and I are fine with that because I was also thinking that I could take 2-3 days off after spring break. I am sure the principal will understand that it is a special occasion. And, yes praise God, a principal really does want to hire me and I have 4 interviews with principals this week so I know I have a teaching job lined up for sure. Thanks for the advice!!

I would say Marh so that your birthday can be your day and you won't have to wait for the honeymoon. I am getting married in February and there are many teachers on the February board for that reason. I'm not sure how your spring break falls but I know that my vendor is half price through February.

I agree with March. =) Just out of curiosity, where are you looking to teach? I teach for Orange County.

Why on earth would you want to get married on your birthday? Both of our birthdays fell on sats in the month we wanted to get married and it limited our date choices. Your anniversary should be a separate occasion from your birthday. that way you can have more fun celebrations! Also, keep in mind that the school calendar constantly changes and they don't have one set for 2012 yet so you could plan your wedding when you think spring break is and then they change it to april. that would suck.

I'm a big fan of waiting a week before going on your honeymoon. So I say March...but not the weekend directly before spring break!
