house rant

one of the conditions of us buying our hosue was that the pellett stove would be certified.  the DAY BEFORE we close the inspector goes in and tells my agent, who tells me, that he would have to reroute the whole pipe which would compromise the floor joists above.  he said it would cost around $3500.  we said no thanks, we just won't use it.  so we go to the house after and our pipe is missing!  to make matters worse, the inspector left a gaping hole in our basment ceiling and the outside of our house.  oh,but he screwed a piece of plywood to the exterior...without out permission! we have a wood house so i'm afraid what kind of damage that may have done.

i got the bill today and it's over $700 for nothing!  and he spelled my first adn last name wrong...argh!  i'm tearing a strip off someone today!

Re: house rant

  • Super frustrating.  We had a ton of complications buying our house too.  I thought buying a house was much more stressful than planning the wedding. (Well, so far.)  Talk to your relator, see if there is any compensation you can get for the damage done without permission.  Maybe you can get the hole fixed for free, it's always worth a shot.  Good luck, I hope everything works out.
