Rehersal Dinner Location Ideas

Does anyone have any suggestions for a rehersal dinner location/restaurant in the Ames area other than Hickory Park (we're doing bbq-type food for the wedding, not sure I want it for the rehersal too)? Ankney locations would work ok too if anyone has any idea there. There will be about 20 people, so it's not a huge group of people, but there will be about 5 kids under 10 there, so kid-friendly is a plus.

Thanks for the help!

I live in Ames now, so I have a ton of ideas!  What type of food are you looking for?  I also LOVE Olde Maine, Aunt Maudes, Fuji (sushi) and know a ton of other places.  What did you have in mind?

I'm leaning towards italian but I'm not a fan of Old Chicago. I have never been to Old Main...I may have to go out to eat this weekend and check it out. I've lived in Ames a couple years and still haven't done much exploring of the downtown/Main Street area. I'm just not sure what Ames has in the way of restaurants that hold about 25-30 people that isn't a chain restaurant. I have family that won't eat chinese or asian-type cuisine, and while Aunt Maudes is a beautiful restaurant, I think it's a bit too formal for my crowd. I'll def be checking out Old Main thought.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

you might also try contacting the ames convention and visitors bureau - i know the Des Moines CVB has a great comprehensive list of restaurants/types/capacities! usually they can e-mail it to you or maybe they have it on their website.

in ankeny - ranallo's on 3rd and bears are both locally owned restaurants that would accomodate your needs and have great food.
