Let's talk registering

I have been kind of obsessed with thinking about registering lately. I am not greedy, but I just look around my house and look at things that need to be replaced, so I am starting to compile my list of must haves now.

Where are you planning on registering?
What is the thing you are the most excited to register for?
Are you registering for fine china?
When do you plan on registering?

Ok, thats all I have for now. Obviously, I am having one exciting Saturday night.

We'll register in the winter (you're not supposed to register more than six months out otherwise something may not be available anymore if you're too soon out). FI and I already own a house and will have lived together for three years by the time we marry, so we just need a few upgrades. We're thinking silverware, probably dishes (even though I really like our lime green stoneware!), a dyson, a few picture frames for hanging wedding photos, serving platters, towels, and a few other things on a list in the back of our address book. I can't remember it all. We're going to register at BBB (my mom is a manager there and I get a discount, so anything not purchased for us we'll actually be able to buy afterwards for 30% off instead of only 10%) and target. No, we don't want china. I don't ever foresee using it. If the president ever comes for dinner I'll just go buy some myself. Otherwise it's just going to take up space in our small, space limited kitchen. We're going to do an online registry as well through myregistry.com because they'll let you register from any vendors/stores websites and we want a Lowes registry. Our house is a bit of a fixer upper, so we really just want to register for bathroom vanities, flooring, countertops and things like that, haha.

  • We'll probably register in a few months.  It will be a small registry, since we'd rather just have cash, but there are definitely things we can put on there for those who prefer to give gifts over writing checks.  I like BBB, because they have everything, and maybe Macy's or Target, just for some variety.   I feel a bit weird registering at all, but when I remember what it's like to be a guest and wanting to give a gift but not having a clue what the couple would want, I feel better about it!

  • I'm sure we'll register sometime late winter. Ours will be small we pretty much have everything we need. Just need a few replacement items. We'll probably register at Target and BBB. Most of our guests are pretty much all over the country.

  • I am most excited about china and kitchenware. Fine China maybe. I will probably start around wintertime. BBB, Jcpenney and Target because they are stores all over the country and we got family all over.

  • We're planning on registering at Kohls and Target, possibly another store yet to be determined. We haven't lived together yet, so we need a lot. I'm not planning on fine china, but I am getting two Corelle sets that I like for the event I host Christmas or Dinner. Hope this helps!
  • For sure we are registering at BBB, and either Target or Macy's. I think we are going to register late fall. I am so on the fence about fine china, mainly because I found a pattern I really love. If we dont, I am just going to register for nicer dishes for everyday. I was just curious to see if anyone else was registering for it. I am most excited to register for new pots and pans and a dyson.

  • We will probavly register after Christmas. We are both living with our parents rightow so we will need alot! I am registering for china because otherwise I would never buy it for myself and it isn't something nice to have for special occassions.

  • We will most likely wait until January or so to register. So far it's just JCPenny and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I really want to register for dishes, bathroom stuff, and decor :)

I talked to FI about registering and actually got a good response this time. We'll probably register at BBB maybe for towels or something. We already have fine china and the stuff PP's mentioned but I think I read somewhere that you can register somewhere for things like honeymoons and stuff. Has anyone else heard of that? BTW Sparkles dysons are awesome! I never thought I would enjoy vacuuming so much.

  • FI and I have lived together for 2 years now so we don't need a lot. We'll probably have a small registry since we'd prefer cash to put towards a down payment on a house. We'll pretty much be upgrading our stuff like towels, sheets, silverware and a real vacuum cleaner. I don't think we'll register for fine china. I have a set of Kate Spade dishes I love and we probably woulnd't use it much. We'll probably register at BBB & maybe Amazon and we'll probably wait until January or so.

FI and I do not live together and have almost nothing. I do have a hope chest that my mother, grandmothers, aunts, and myself randomly will buy something to put in it. So far all of that has been decorating items. I plan on decorating my kitchen in an apple theme and I have more than enough apple stuff. I also have a lot of seasonal items for holiday decor that my aunt got from Pottery Barn. And picture frames. We have oodles of picture frames.  But as for dishes or glasses or anything relating to food, we have nothing.

I plan on registering at target, jcp, and khols in fall/winter. I am not registering for fine china or decor items. I'm picky about decor and even if I registered for it I know how my family is. They would look at the registry and instead of seeing "Blue paisley print blanket" all they would get out of it is "oh she wants a blanket"...lol that's just how most of them are in my family.

I think I am most excited about registering in general. lol who doesn't like walking around a store scanning items for other people to buy you? :)

  • Bar, I LOVE Kate Spade's china lines!!

We'll probably register after New Year's so as to avoid the holiday crowds. I think we'll end up doing Macy's and Target. We'd like to register at Crate and Barrel because we both really dig the look of their stuff, but there's only one around here, and realistically, I know most of our family members would look at their stuff/prices and be like "Yeaaaahhh...we'll get them something from the Target registry instead." We've lived together for two years and we own a house, so we have a lot of stuff already. We are not going to register for fine china because we'll never use it. We already have 8 settings' worth of Fiestaware and a considerable amount of their serving dishes (the Fiestaware factory is about 45 minutes away, and they do this HUGE tent sale 2x a year, so...I have a lot of Fiestaware). The three big things we're registering for are: a real, grown-up set of silverware, a serious knife set because I'm constantly complaining about our knives, and a swank-azz Dyson, because our house is always on the verge of being overrun by pet fur, thanks to our dog and two kitties.
  • Probably BBB.  Honestly, I don't want to register because we have everything we need and have no room to store it (and nowhere else we can store it, and Im not paying to store it).  So I am not really excited about it lol because it will be a short list of things we need and will probably only cover the bridal shower haha.

  • FI and I have lived together for 4 years now, so we don't need too many things. We will most likely just upgrade our kitchenware, and maybe get fine china. We are thinking of registering at Macy's, Target or Kohl's and BBB.

  • I want grown up silverware too! I am also OBSESSED with kate spade dishes. If I do end up registering for China, I want Kate Spade Larabee. I absolutely love it, but I know it will not get used that much.

  • I'm really not sure where I want to register. I've been lurking on the registry board recently and getting some ideas. One of them being to register in the fall so people can take advantage of Black Friday, holiday, and after Christmas sales if they want to. I know it's a little farther than 6 months out, but I really like the idea of it.
