Asheville Anyone?

I will be in Asheville from Charlotte on Feb 12 and 13 can anyone recommend any venues to go and see?  I am going to go look at the Melange for sure but we are undecided on if we want a venue or want to go the national park/ waterfall route and splurge on an incredible honeymoon.

Yayy! I'm getting married at the Crest Center in Asheville and I love it. They're very nice there and the cost wasn't astronomical. There's also Claxton Farms which was awesome (they're sister companies). After I booked, I saw that the arboretum has a new venue-it's on the blue ridge and looked beautiful but I believe you need to pledge to have a "green" wedding.

What limited us is that we're having mostly out of town guests and we wanted something close to downtown so guests have stuff to do. The crest center is only 10 minutes from downtown and was perfect. There's a couple awesome looking venues right in downtown (we didn't look at them since we wanted a more rustic wedding).

    Hope that helps!

Yeah we are in the same boat as far as wanting people to be close to downtown.  We just aren't having a big enough guest list for a dancing reception and a big party.  I am more interested in a plated sit down dinner after the ceremony with possibly some music and a first dance and cake cutting.  Does that sound terribly lame?  I mean what are you supposed to do with less than 30 people?

I'm getting married in May at a historic home in right in the downtown area of Asheville.  It's called Homewood...kind of looks like a miniature stone castle!  The website is www.mybelovedhomewood.com if you want to check it out!  Hope this helps!

I love the Homewood!  That place is incredible.  It is definitely on my list of must visit venues.

I'm getting married at the Crest Center too - in August.  It was the perfect site for us.  We also looked at Grove Park Inn, which is goregous.  As for rehearsal events, we are looking at the Venue tomorrow - it has a downtown feel to it and does a lot of weddings as well.  Of course Biltmore is always beautiful.  Really in Asheville there are so many hotels and nothing is too far away (Biltmore is maybe 10 minutes from downtown) that you can't go wrong.

We looked at Highland Lake Inn when we were searching for venues. It is very pretty and if your wanting an outdoor wedding, you can get married right by the water there. In the end we chose Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure. It is gorgeous and you can also get married down by the water. Hope this helps!

A friend of mine got married at On Broadway which is in downtown Asheville, beautiful location.

Also, depending on the park, etc you may need to fill out a permission form or something and have it approved.  I know you have to for the Blue Ridge Parkway.
