What is your wedding budget?

I am newly engaged and we decided to get married late this year or early into the new year of 2013! Not much time but I think we can do it. Our budget is 7 grand.
We want to get married in a church that is beautiful but all religions or a place outdoors and also an evening reception on a Friday or Saturday with 100 guests.

I just found info on Cenntineal Barn for a reception since it is such a great price but have not gone to check it out yet.

Do any of you have any tips on low costs to make a beautiful reception?
I first wanted a place that we could do both the ceremony and then move to the reception at the same location but have been having a hard time finding some. We want to have a great wedding under 7 grand but it is seeming impossible. I would rent everything for the reception if I could.

So my main question,
What is your budget and where are you having your wedding and reception?

Thanks!

  • We're getting married in my grandmother's house but I've been in a wedding at SEM Villa Chapel in Milford.  It was very reasonably priced and is a non-denomination chapel (provide your own officiant).  But it's a wedding facility only; they don't have reception capabilities.  I know it was under $500 (possibly even half that amount) so it would save you a lot.  And if you get married 'off season' your vendors might be willing to cut you some deals.  Keep us posted on your progress.

Honestly, I really don't think everyone else's wedding budget is relevant, and it can actually be a pretty private thing. It's almost equivalent to asking "how much money do you make??" what you need to do is establish your own wedding budget (which it sounds like you have already done) and stick to it. 7 grand is a low budget for 100 people, but it can be done. I would suggest maybe considering having an afternoon cake and punch reception, an outdoor ceremony in a park, etc. Good luck.

  • Some people don't mind telling you their budget and others do. All personal preference. Easy ways to cut down costs:

    Friday/Sunday wedding
    Cake & punch reception
    Used wedding gown or consigned
(Yours Truly by Kelly is WONDERFUL)
    DIY flowers
    No favors

No unnecessary paper (place cards, programs, digital RSVP website, etc)
Cut the guest list (we went from 130 to 60)
Vistaprint! (This site offers free postcards that you can use as STDs and all kinds of awesome stuff. We have so much stuff from here. Besides invites all our paper things came from there)
iPod music instead of a DJ
    Buffet instead of served dinner
(depending on theme, you can always do a BBQ dinner which can be significantly cheaper)
    DIY hair/make-up
Check out places like Goodwill and Garden Ridge for vases for centerpieces
    Coupons, coupons, coupons.

Our budget is $10,000, which we have stayed close to and we are getting married at Weidemann Hill Mansion. They require little decoration and it's beautiful. Their max is 60 people for seated dinner and 75 for a cocktail reception (cake and punch).

This should be enough to get you started, Post any questions here!!!! Enjoy!!!
  • My budget is $4000. I'm having three dresses, three photographers, live music at the ceremony, and a great DJ.

The dresses are $100 each, the photographers are my artsy friends, the music is coming from my daughter's classmates, and the DJ is another good friend. He may marry us!
