Harford County Reception Venues

Hey guys!  This is my first post on the local boards and I hope all of you are doing well and that your planning is going smoothly!

I am currently searching for a venue in Harford County to hold an indoor wedding reception.  The wedding itself will be at a church in Harford, and it will be in early December 2011 so outdoor venues aren't an option.  We're looking at about 100 guests and have a budget of 10k or less.

I've noticed quite a few recommendations on the board for the Liriodendron and some Havre de Grace locations, but I'd prefer a place that has one large room to fit everyone, rather than splitting up the guests into smaller rooms.  I searched through the last 20 pages of posts for Harford reception suggestions but didn't see much that wasn't the Liriodendron.

Have any of you been to an event at these locations, or have any other suggestions in the area?  I'd love to hear why you like or didn't like venues :)

Richlin Ballroom
Top of the Bay (Aberdeen Proving Ground)
Bulle Rock

Thanks for your help! :)

Vandiver Inn is perfect for smaller weddings.  The price is reasonable and a lot is included.  They have so many prefered vendors that give them discounts.  It was perfect.  I couldn't go with them just because we had too many people.  That was my first choice.

I looked at Bulle Rock. It was a nice room, but I didn't like the way it was split up. There were two places for the cocktail hour, but they were on opposite sides of the ballroom. And there's a back room with a lot of nice windows, but there's big doors seperating them. The cake goes in that room, and it bothered me that you couldn't see it from the main room. Also, we didn't like the lady that we spoke to.

I'd say, get some quotes and go see the places. It's really the only way you would be able to tell if you like it.

We also looked at Maryland Golf and Country Club, which wasn't bad. I really liked The Mansion at Valley Country Club. It's technically in the Towson area, but I loved it. If I was having a smaller wedding that wasn't in the summer (there's a community pool in front of it) I would have had it there!

    Good Luck!

I vote for the Vandiver Inn but then, that's my venue so I'm biased. You may not like it though. It'll fit your crowd but the best place is the pavilion outside. In December they would drop the sides and have heaters in it. so it would be okay. But I'm not not sure it fits your requirements.

Budget wise it's great though and all tables, chairs, linens, and the cake are included.

Ditto the recommendation for Fiore winery.  Also try Geneva Farms and Swan Harbor.

A guest list of 100 with everyone seated in one room might actually work for Liriodendron - we had our wedding there and did a cocktail reception so our seating wasn't all in one spot.  But their capacity for indoor seating in the event of weather that makes the porches unusable is 100, and I believe I was told that all of the tables we had four our guest list of about 100 needed to be able to fit in the main room in the event of bad weather.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!  I appreciate all your input :)  I'm excited about settling on a venue because then I can get started on everything else.  I'll feel much more comfortable once I know the date is set!

We wanted to use Top of the Bay, but they were closing for renovations and were booked up for the summer once they re-open. The coordinator is very pleasant and the prices were great.

I've been to a wedding at Liriodendron and fitting a 100 people inside is TIGHT! They were about 120 at this wedding so three tables were put out on the porch and it was really crowded in the room where everyone else was seated. I wouldn't recommend it for a party of 100.

I've also been to Fiore Winery (looked at it for my best friend's wedding two years ago). It is two rooms but you can easily see into the other room and I'm pretty sure you could fit everyone in one room comfortably and keep the other room for dancing and your bar and buffet if you're having one. Check it out!

Hi.  I'm new to the boards so I hope this comes out.  I just checked out a new facility in Havre de Grace called La Banque de Fleuve.   They are still working on it, but what I saw was gorgeous.  They said it could sit up to 125.  Just a suggestion.  Good luck!

There is a new venue in Havre de Grace, Maryland overlooking the Susquehanna River.
La Banque de Fleuve located on St. John's Street is a historic bank built in the early 19th Century.  Fully restored with marble, glass, wood and iron galore.  It is a magnificant building seating up to 125 guests.  This one of a kind building is well worth a visit.. I promise!!

I second the recommendation of Vandiver Inn because that is where we are getting married, if you have any questions just PM me! I would also look into La Banque, I have been watching it be redone and it looks really really cool!

    Good luck searching!

La Banque looks wonderful, but they have no liquor license, correct?

Hi there!  My husband and I are a wedding photography team here in harford county -- here are a few of our suggestions!

Jarrettsville Gardens can hold upto 450 people -- its a nice location -- not actually a garden, really just a nice hall.  I've attended a wedding there, never worked with the venue however -- You access their info through Sterling Caterers -- would definitely be a great choice depending on where your ceremony is being held (not too far from jarrettsville??)

Also, check out http://www.unitedwithlove.com -- their venue list is quite extensive and should help!!

    Good luck!
