French macaron bakery?

I'm thinking about doing French macarons in my wedding colors as my favor.  Does anyone know of any good bakeries in NJ that make them?

Re: French macaron bakery?

  • I love french macarons and actually had these as the "grooms cake" since my husband loves them as well.  I don't know how good they are but I think you can order them online from L'Epicerie.  I believe Short Hills mall also has a place that sells french macarons.

Did someone say macarons? ;) I had them (along with madelienes) as my shower favors! They were from Didier Dumas in Nyack.

Petit Paris in Montclair might be the best place in NJ, but they're expensive at $2.75 per cookie. I think Ladurée on the Upper East Side costs less, and those are actually flown in from Paris!

I visited Asalt and Buttery three times, and they were hit or miss - mostly miss.

I've seen MadMac recommended for parties - http://madmacnyc.com/
They're based in Paterson, but they don't have a storefront. I bought a box of their macarons at Paris Baguette in Fort Lee a while ago.

I've never had St. Michel's - they're always closed when I'm in the neighborhood.

My FIs stepmother is from France and swears by Didier Dumas. I haven't been there but I trust her opinion ;)

Actually Butter Knives, Asalt and Buttery were rated higher then mad macs and were voted most vivid flavor.
Asalt & Buttery - They have 20+ flavors  to choose from and are at a reasonable price of $1.65 each. They also won "Best Bake Shop 2011" on WDHA 105.5

    their website is <a href="http://www.asaltandbuttery.net" rel="nofollow">www.asaltandbuttery.net</a>
