Traveling from New Orleans to Boston

Hello Boston!
My partner and I are planning to travel to Boston to get married, but we do not plan on having a ceremony there. We only want to file the proper paperwork and do the bare minimum for this part of our marriage, this is because we are have a somewhat large reception when we return.
What should we know about getting married in MA?
Can we just go to the courthouse and file the paperwork?
I see there may be a 3 day waiting period that can possibly be waived, but I'm not sure how that works.
Also, can we do just the paperwork or do have to arrange a whole ceremony outside if the -I'm assuming -courthouse?-

Please help :)

We got our marriage license from the town hall (suburb of Boston) where we live.  You have to go together to fill out the paperwork for the license.  Then you have to wait three days and you only need one person to pick up the license.  It needs to be signed by someone that has the power to marry you (could be a Justice of the peace, or a judge, or someone ordained for the day, etc).  I think technically you have to say vows and then this person can sign the license.  Then they return it to the town hall and you have to wait to get your marriage certificate.  I'm not sure how long that takes as we were on our honeymoon for two weeks before I went to pick it up.  Good luck.

http://www.glad.org/rights/publications/c/massachusetts/ - Look for the one that says "How to Get Married in MA". It should have all the answers you're looking for. :)  HTH!
